Brokeback Mountain-sorry

I have to agree with Reader,I have alot of friends that do not support my politics and beliefs BUT are wonderful people..we just stay away from explosive topics!

R2, I think your a conservative and don't want to admit it..... If you're best friends are conservitives then you and they have the same moral content.... And that is why it's just more than politics......
What's the old saying? You can't be an eagle and fly with turkeys.......

That's bullshit....... Liberals and conservitives are not the same. And do not have the same values and morals..... That dog won't hunt......
Why is it everytime I suggest you have conservative tendancies, you get defensive????? If the shoe fits where it...

I am a person with my own mixture of views and experiences, some of which are considered liberal by you and make you very uncomfortable and others of which make you very comfortable...
At least you understand the situation. We are uncomfortable with your unpatriotic, leftist, progovernment, gay rights, conditional truth, mindset. Having said that , your views aren't mixed. Mixed up mindset maybe but your views are most certainly Not conservative.

Stop and think R2.
Why are you here on ranchersnet????
You say because of the fact that your family raised and milked cows. Right? Which brings me to believe you have a conservative back ground. And the fact that after all you're still here which makes me believe deep down in your heart you are conservative.....You may not belive it do to your education or location. And I'm not saying all educated are liberal, it's just the personify you choose to carry.
Okay times up end of therapy. See my secretary to set up another appointment.

I have always been a reader of Larry McMurtry. My sister sat in on a question and answer session he did this last month. She said that there was no agenda at all in the gay cowboy movie, as far as the writer or Hollywood was concerned. It was just a story and that was it, he said. I bought a book by Annie Proleux(sp) or whatever he name is, and it was so stupid I couldn't believe it. Now I like fiction, but she wrote a bunch of garbage that was supposed to have a western theme. It didn't. I am pretty sure she was an immigrant to Wyoming, as no native would write that kind of BS.

Like most of the rest of you, I am bothered by them associating the cowboy (or sheepherder) with the gay business. Some things are just sacred to me I guess. And I am dissapointed with Mr. McMurtry for working on this project, but for any of you that have read most of his books, it is not a real big surprise. He deals in some pretty racy issues.

I have been thinking the Director of the movie (Ang Lee) probably really goes by the name of Wang Me in his OTHER life. Sorry if I offended anyone with that.

Brought up on 10 acres in dairy country with horses, sheep, ducks, dogs, cats, guinea fowl, birthing puppies and lambs, sheering, slaughtering, wading through cow patties.

Never raised or milked cows but the smell of cows evokes childhood.

We were the beatniks up on the mesa although yes, you are correct, the majority of my classmates could have then been considered conservative but this is Northern California we're talking about -- just consider OT/NT as an example of a Northern Californian rancher -- they are probably not that conservative nowadays.

Thanks, I'll check with your secretary. I never said I didn't have lots of conservative views (about marriage, sex, raising children, being a good citizen) but even my childhood environment was liberal by back then standards.

Is that you Dharma? :???:

Ditto........ Been There, and in saying that. What better company than to be with than you. I read the post on ranchersnet and I wouldn't want to be with anyother bunch of people than the ones who have the same beliefs than I. It makes me that much stronger to my faith and convictions. Thanks Steve, Cal, Red Robin, Soapweed, Faster Horses. Liberty Bell, Mike, and all those others....

I enjoy being with people of all beliefs. I feel I can LEARN something from them. What a mind numbing existance if we all believed the same. There are some here I'm glad to be in the company of also: HMW, Jinglebob, R2, Kaloraven (is that at least close to how it is spelled?), nonothing, Soapweed, Ms. Sage, Hay Maker, Northern Rancher to name a few. Psssst notice our varied views yet I feel they've either challenged me or had similar opinions making me learn and research some things.

Plus X is great for entertainment.
