Baker City has a bronc and bull riding every year. Two rounds (used to be 3 but they changed stock contractors), and a pretty good purse. We went friday to the bronc riding. A 17 year old from Utah won it! He didn't qualify for the High School rodeo finals so came here instead. He was pretty happy (and should be), said he was glad because he wasn't sure if he had enough gas money to get home. He also won a tool set and said he'd use it to work on the swather when he got home.

Is that in connection with the Miners Jubilee or has the Miners Jubliee been scrapped due to lack of jubilation? I remember they added bull riding to it after the mining left the area. I think they still had gold panning but the other events ceased. When did they add the broncs? Do they call it a rough stock rodeo? Glad a kid won that needed it.

He isn't a poor kid anymore. It paid $10,000 to win. It is Powder River Rodeo stock. Top tier broncs, NFR horses. Unfortunately it is about third tier bronc riders. It pays pretty good but the money doesn't count for the PRCA so the big boys don't show up. It rained cowboys pretty steady.

Nicky how could you have been there and we didn't see you? Were you hiding in those 5,000 people?

Ha, yes, hiding in the grandstand :)

Hang in there, webfoot. We finally met Mike and NIcky at a rodeo. In the grandstands.
Pendleton Roundup!!! Your turn will come.
I met them several years ago at a weed field day. Talked to Nicky at a memorial service back in May. We were both at the bronc riding but how could you possibly miss seeing someone when there was 5,000 people packed in there.

What happens at "Weed field day"?
😂😂😂😂
Was the air kinda smoky? Were Cheech and Chong the guest speakers?
No it was about Medusahead grass. It makes Cheat grass look like your friend. The tour was conducted by the county weed guy. If had been that kind of "Weed" we would have taken a trip down to Huntington. Or maybe a trip in Huntington. Instead we went out on some range land east of Proprietary Flats. And then to Kathy Thompson's property out of Durkee where they had some test plots. Kathy (one of my neighbors) and Nicky were in 4H together.
