Bull Sale Mail

This past weekend when I was home visiting my folks I was looking through the mound of bull sale books that various breeders had sent to them. One stood out and caught my attention due to the novel way they were trying to entice bull buyers to their sale and the way they planned to sale them with no sale ring. I flipped through the bull sale book and saw some nice enough bulls for sale and this concept that the bulls would be videoed and then as they sold that bull would play on a television at the sale. No sale ring - the bull on t.v. I was impressed with this approach for the smaller bull guy to get his own sale and not have to hold it at a local sale barn. Also included with the sale book was a dvd. I ran out of time to watch it but am assuming it's video of the bulls. Would be a great way to be even more prepared the day of the sale.

Is this the Ranchers Choice bull sale? If it is, I am the sale manager for it. We took the photos right after the Denver Stock Show and di the video about 5 weeks ago. The sale is today. I am suppose to be there, but I had to send one of my partners there for me as my son is in the hospital.

Hope you son is Ok BRG. I have participated in this type of sale as a customer. I like it a lot. No dust. Bull isn't riled up. Quieter. A little more civilized. The bulls were at the site available for viewing at all the ones I have been too. Purecounty and rkaiser sold like that 2 years ago. Not sure about this year. It is also easy to make it available on the Internet this way.

The Summitcrest sale used this format the other day. All the bulls were penned outside right handy for viewing. Then the video from Superior was on televisions in the sale ring inside the barn. (Superior had technical difficulties and the sale was stopped for about 20 minutes  ) I think it's a good format, especially for folks that are putting a lot of bulls through a sale. When some of the faster auctioneers are working a sale you can barely even see the bull as he flies in one door and out the other. Might as well skip all of that chaos. I really don't like to bid on a bull unless I have fully evaluated him before the sale anyway, so seeing him in the ring isn't the place where I want to look him over.

The other good part about the video sale format is that the bulls stay in the same pens during the sale. If you don't get some of the ones purchased that you had marked down, then you've got a chance to go look up some of your other picks to see if you want to bid on something that you hadn't planned on.

BRG, I do hope your son does not stay in the hospital for long. Our best to your family.

Yes that is the sale I was referring to. I thought it was an intriguing concept and stood out from all the other bull mail.
