Question for ya TTB. I notice your horses are in Crested Wheat Grass. Do you guys have any eye trouble with your horses. When the grass is good like that at our ranch we seem to have troubles with eyes on the cattle. The only thing I really know about a horse is how to ride one. Wanting to edumakate myself.

Thanks for the complement. I don't think the crested wheat bothers the horses. The mares and foals are always in this pasture, and I can't imagine that lazy ace's Grandpa would run them here if there were...you know, horses really run this place...well, maybe after the Corgi dog! I don't think the crested bothers our cattle either though. Maybe lazy ace will offer better insight when he comes in.

Did you buy the grey you were riding? Did Dale's have him?

Ponys look great!! Nice pictures TTB but wheres Newman??

Katy

Katy...

Thank you Katy...

I guess I thought that Newman had hogged the spotlight enough for now...it was someone elses turn to have their picture taken!

Newman is the class clown anyway....he doesn't need anymore encouragement!

Something about Little Winnies colt that I like but I don't claim to know squat about horse conformation.... He might be called a Dun or a bay around here, couldn't tell you as I am not much past the "brown or not brown" stage of horse color identification

I like 'em all TTB. Absolutely beautiful! Makes me want to get buying mares again. My Grandpa always said the only thing on green grass prettier than black cows, is colts chasin' butterflies! :D

As for Winnie's colt, he's my favorite. And I've always called that color a buckskin. If there's a dorsal stripe, we call 'em duns, if not, their buckskins. Although he does have some dun factor legs on him. Either way, whatever ya want to call him, I'd buy him in a heartbeat.

Still debating on the Grey. It is the Dales.

The only time that grass bothers the cattle's eyes is when it gets hard like it is now.

A herd like that is fun to look at...so glad I'm outta the colt business though...to many mishaps it seemed like...Great shots! Thanks...

(I like the palamino myself)

(I meant for this to be posted earlier this morning, after the previous post, and for some reason it didn't post. I went and did other stuff, and just came back and realized it wasn't posted, sorry   )

Thanks everyone...

In all fairness, the horses are really lazy ace's Grandparent's pride and joy. I don't know how long they've been breeding QH's but longer than we've had Red Angus I think...so I'd say over 60 years. The mares are a reflection of their hard work and dedication, and a true love of horses.

We love the horses too, and one of the best things about where our house sits, is the mares and foals run in the pasture that adjoins our house on the south. We get to see the babies play and grow, which gives us a lot of enjoyment.

I hope you have enjoyed the photos as much as we enjoy the mares and foals. It is certainly harder to see the foals go down the road than it is calves...I guess that is the effect horses have on a person
