Calving has started in the Great White North

Due date is this Saturday and we have 20+ calves already. Sorry some of the photos are dark but the two feet of snow doesn't allow a lot of manouverability for my iron steed.

Two from bought heifers that are two weeks old now.

Plowed off a little spot for some to bed on. It looks like a sea lion rookery at night.

#78 cow, 1997 model on her third set of twins or first set of higher multiples.

#86 has had the first calf in the cow bunch for 3 of the last 5 years.

Yearling heifers in slop. I've scraped this pen twice now, the next time should have some bare ground to start drying.

Sure looks nice and warm down there gcreek. Your snow situation is very similar to ours this year. I'm hoping in a few days we'll be able to feed the pairs on natural bare ground on the hill, until then we'll feed them where I scraped off with the cat, that ground is bone dry but lacking in area and I worry about scours and such.
Your cows appear to have come through in fine form, let us know how old #78 makes out.

The when to calve discussion has already been done and bulls will go out a week later this year. :wink:

Been riding the green colt and giving Red a break until I need a more experienced mount.

Critters are looking good! Glad we don't have your snow still...we just have standing water :???: Don't want a drought but we can't hardly get around. Like you said...We ranchers are never happy...

Cows, wintered well, and all that white stuff you been cussin all winter is sure gonna put moisture in the ground in a few weeks.
Still dry around here,weather folks say March was second driest since 1889.
