Cam Newton

I didnt' say he wasn't talented...Just not the greatest college quarterback in the history of football. That will take a while to determine. As for rushing, yeah he's doing well..he has to..nobody else on the team seems to be able to. And he did a great job of passing. How will he do when he has to throw 50 times a game with a hard rush on him every play? Let's wait til he finishes his senior year...hopefully he'll keep up the good work. Teebow did...Vince Young did. Matt Leinert did. Who was the kid from Nebraska?? Maddux?? Had some pretty good stats. Newton is good alright but got a long way to go to be the "best ever".

You're arguing with yourself. I never said he as the "Best Ever", or the "greatest college quarterback in the history of football". Those are your words............

I said he is the most talented, and that was my take.

My take on the kid is that he is the most talented quarterback in the history of college football. Bar none. Anyone who says otherwise is fool that doesn't know.

There has been no credible evidence of wrongdoing, exposed to the public to date.

All hearsay................... by sports writers. He said, she said.

The fact that the SEC has investigated Cam thoroughly since December/January and has found nothing "credible" (their words), the NCAA has been investigating since June and has not sent Auburn a "Letter Of Inquiry" either says one of two things: Either the tracks were covered well, or there is nothing to investigate. We'll see.

One thing you will find is that Auburn, the school, coaches, and/or athletic program itself, has no knowledege of improprieties.

Tell your Auburn fan friends that "think" he took the cash that they are jumping to the conclusions that the New York Times wants them to. And that's a long story in itself.

The FBI is involved now. Maybe the end of the matter is near? If not, he may not win the Heisman and that would be a shame if cleared. But he will be a rich man one day from the ensuing libel/slander lawsuits that will take place regardless of whether he plays in the Pros or not.

There are other SEC schools that have a history of turning others in because of one reason or another, and it was proven to have happened in Philip Fulmer's (TN) fiasco with Alabama several years ago. The competition is tremendous here.

But personally, I think the notoriety is good for Auburn in the long run but hope the matter is settled before signing day next Feb.

It's been a fun season one way or another.

I think Auburn is coming to Manhattan in 2013?

Short memory Mike....As I said...the kid is very good....we'll let him prove is he's the greatest....and I hope he does.

Against Georgia last Saturday, Newton became the first SEC quarterback in history to Rush for 1,000 yards and Pass for 2,000 in one year. The season ain't over.

To put that in perspective, Turner Gill, his senior year, only had 1500 passing and 500 rushing in an entire season.

Mike the kid is good....very very good but Gill is not a good comparison as quarterbacking was so much different in the 80's than today. Vince Young would be a better comparison

Year Passing Rushing
Comp Att Yards TDs Int Att Yds Avg TD
2003 84 143 1,155 6 7 135 998 7.4 11
2004 148 250 1,849 12 11 167 1,079 6.5 14
2005 212 325 3,036 26 10 155 1,050 6.8 12
Totals 444 718 6,040 44 28 457 3,127 6.8 37

10 Rushes for 200 yards against USC in BCS championship and 30 of 40 passing for 267. Pretty good against the #1 team in the nation.

He'll go pro and go 1st round probably. Only bad thing about that is ending up on a crappie team.

That's because Gill had a Heisman winning runningback and an All-American wingback in the same backfield.

So, by using your analysis, no one else at AU should have any rushing yards?

Guess what? AU might possibly have 4,000 yards in rushing at the season's end with Newton only about a 4th of the total.

I remember Gill & Rozier well at Huskerville. Gill was good no doubt. But he ain't the Hoss that Newton is. There are several videos where Newton totally ran over linebackers. He ain't just shifty and fast, he's big and tough to go along with it........

to settle the Newton / Gill debate once and for all...can Newton make a 2 point conversion?? cause we know Gill can't!

that was when TO decided to forget his morals and started to recruit the woman beaters and thugs that got him to finally beat the speed of the Fla. teams.......

TO was a sell out.....

Put the Gill of '83 against the SEC defenses of today and he'd be 1500 and 3000.

How many women did Phillips beat before TO recruited him?

not sure, but what is your point? TO went after a know woman beater? or To found a kid, and turned him into a woman beater??
tell me what angle you are going with and I can be better prepared for the discussion.....
