I know nothing about this bull, but we got a sale catalog and a bull in there is sired by MAR MID EMPIRE 3092.
He is a son of BR MIDLAND. BR Midland is a son of Twin Valley
Precision E161, BR Royal Lass 7036-19, Rito 3X25 of 5HLL, KAF
Blackcap,035.

The cow side is a granddaugher of Gardens Prime Time.

This individual in the catalog looks SO RIGHT to me that
I thought I wanted to find out more about his lineage.
He is long and very moderate framed.

The EPD's (I'm not an EPD person but here they are):
BW 70 EPD 2.3
WW 607 (100) EPD +48
MILK EPD +16 (woo hooo, I like that)
YW 1180 (100) +16 (16? That doesn't sound right) :???:

This is a fall born calf 8/8/2005.
I think he is out of a first calf heifer, usually I prefer buying bulls
out of proven cows and the older the better.

$Values, which I don't really understand:
$W +25.1
$F +23.54
$G and $B NA

I really would appreciate your input on the bloodlines and data
I posted as these are bloodlines I'm not real familiar with.
I wish there was a picture of him somewhere so I could post
a link, but there isn't. I don't even know who MAR is, BR is,
KAF is, etc. so I'm really in the dark on this bloodline.

Thanks for your help.

The sires reg. number is 14454058, MAR Midland Empire.

I wasn't looking for information from the Angus Assoc. per sei,
but more what people who have used them are saying about this bloodlines.

I will go look and see what I find there, too.
Thanks.

I'm thinking there is a reason I'm not familiar with these
cattle. Must mean I have avoided them in the past for some reason.
I'm no fan of Precision or New Design cattle. Not saying that they
don't work in some spots, they must.

FH,

The EPD's listed on AA are higher than you stated. YW +105

Impressive numbers, but for use of getting replacements I would be concerned with that high of YW.

I never have had cows with Precision pedigree, but I have some precision calves that look very good. I mean they look good for growth and gain. I doubt I would use for replacements.
New Design, I also tend to stay away from, one bad experience for me may not be fair to the name. Cattle I got were poorly represented if it wasn't the pedigree.
Anyway thanks for pointing this Bull out. I'll have to watch him.

Most of the Midland bred cattle that I have seen are pretty common. Not really sure how to explain it but there is nothing about them that sets them above some others in my mind. Midland just got alot of hype since he sold for what $210,000 a couple of years ago down at Midland.

Also I never have cared for E161. They're pretty fraile boned and not alot of mass to them. Pretty decent for calving ease, but I think alot of that comes from 1680.

Here's the pedigree of Midland Empire. Quite a bit of Traveler and Scotch Cap breeding back down the line.
