cattle guard

Have a cattle guard here on the farm,snow has filled it up. I have tried propane,but am looking for an alt to that. I see heating mats might work?
But what do you use? Any help would be greatly greatly appeiciated.

Around here we fill them with snow and put up a gate for the winter.
If it were really important to open it I would rent a steamer. Hotsy makes good ones. It wouldnt take long with a good steamer.

we use it to put hay in through out the winter,sometimes it's a one man show here and this is what helps being only one.

good border collie can watch a gate while hauling hay

no thanks on the dog.just looking to melt the snow.

We just shovel out enough of the top that the cows can see it's there and it turns them. It'll melt come spring.
