Cattle Inventory Report

The annual cattle inventory report was released by the USDA Friday. Total cattle inventories were reported at 97.1 million head, up from 95.4 million head on January 1, 2005. Feeder cattle and calf supplies outside feed yards, those available to be placed on feed, increased 1.7% or 468,000 head.

Given the calculated increase in feeders and calves outside feedyards, all other factors being equal, feeders would be expected to average approximately $3.00/cwt below last year and calves $5.00/cwt below last year. Stay informed; always know and manage your financial risk.

Those prices would not slide if the US food chain would provide the class of animals with records according to the import countrys spec's.

They would be way higher as a large portion of exportable beef is diseased with F/M in the world or their are no health records that move with the animals meat into the importing country.

Agman gave US inventory numbers, you tear off on a rant about imports and foot and mouth.

The US does not have foot and mouth. The US does not import raw beef products from countries that have foot and moth.

Agman also said all other factors being equal the prices would be....

If foot and mouth were to start in the US that would not be all other things equal.
