his mother. this is what i'm trying to work towards as far as the cow herd is concerned. this cow is as easy fleshing as any cow i've ever been around. nearly perfect udder, very deep bodied with a ton of capacity, along with an excellent dispostion.

i didn't have to do anything. those are the tops that were cut off the tire to make the water tanks. the machine that was used to do the cutting, cut the cords off flush, you can barley feel them. we had about 100 of those tops, so i figured i'd use some for feed bunks. they work really well, with very little maintance.

my wife had some book work to do today, so i had to handle the chores with out her.

We have some of those same tire tops from drinkers we made a few years ago. I wanted to used them as feeders somehow but wasn't sure the best way to do it without getting cattle walking all over in them. Great idea to use one upside down as a base. I'm going to borrow that idea...with your permission of course Justin

Your cattle look great, and your perfect cow would be welcome here anytime  :D . Let's hope we haven't all just jinxed her for you   .

You're pretty serious when you head out to feed, glad you found your calf... they aren't usually as lucky here :? .

Does he put enough ear on the calves to put a tag in?

Up here--ears are just the opposite-- as I always give the heifers and bulls without ears or part of the tail an extra brownie point as have the vigor and will to live.....Those no eared ones are +++'s in my book....

Sun came out finally here today too-- after days of snow and freezing fog-- and the old temp dropped.. About 0 right now altho they say it will warm up during the night-- and predicting temps near or above 30 tomorrow....

Justin- calves, bulls, and cows look good- but those bulls have too much white on their heads for me  I chased that crossbreeding years ago- too tough a game to play in our enviroment- and won't do it again......

Looking first rate there Old Chap.

That Simmental blood is OK as long as it doesn't get above 3/8 in my experience.

that bull doesn't have any simmental in him. he's supposed to be out of a registered angus bull. his mother was super good red angus cow that had a a touch of white on her belly and a spot of white on her face about the size of a quarter. the day he was born and i seen that white face, i was very suprised. maybe he's out of the nieghbors bull, :?(but i highly doubt it) but i do like the baldies and those that have that simmy blaze. whatever he is, he's a pretty good bull and i'm gonna keep using him. :D

Good to see pics of the old neighborhood. Cows and scenery look just as good as they did last year at this time, and the feeding rig looks awful familiar but not on your ranch.
