ATV Raffle a Huge Success

(Billings, Mont.) – More than $14,000 was raised by a recent raffle to benefit R-CALF USA and one of its affiliate organizations, the Montana Cattlemen's Association (MCA). A single $25 raffle ticket made Steve and Luanne Bauman, of Corvallis, the proud owners of a new Honda Rancher 350 all-terrain vehicle (ATV).

Deep Creek Ranch, located in Choteau, donated the 329cc powerhouse ATV, while Inbody Signs, also located in Choteau, painted the R-CALF USA logo and the MCA logo on the ATV.

"We were both surprised," said Luanne Bauman. "We use 4-wheelers all the time so this is great.

"It will be used and used hard," she continued. "We usually do not participate in raffles, but the cause was what drew us in. When you make your living running cattle, it is best to support those that are helping you."

"We appreciate MCA's work on the state level and the fund-raisers they put together for us," said R-CALF USA President and Co-Founder Leo McDonnell. "The $14,000 that was raised for R-CALF USA and MCA by their 4-wheeler raffle exemplifies their support and initiative."

"I am very excited with the funds that were raised and thankful to everyone that participated," said MCA President Brett DeBruycker. "I can think of no better organizations with higher principles than MCA and R-CALF USA. They are working every day and for the interests of Montana and U.S. cattle producers."

Giving DeBruyker the benefit of the doubt, maybe he just doesn't know that some of the loyal (OT, in this instance) say and tell lies that leave the organizations with something less than a reputation for "higher principles".

OT, until you present proof of your claims of ANYONE who gets a "rakeoff" from the Beef Checkoff, we have no reason to believe you are not lieing when making that statement.

MRJ, where would the NCBA be without the checkoff contract? How many employees/offices do you think they would have?

Would the cattle industry be better off if a big New York Consulting firm got these checkoff contract rather then NCBA?

Problem is Big Muddy that is exactly what happens now...Under the rules of the checkoff only Cattle groups formed prior to 1987 can bid to administer any of the checkoff programs...This leaves NCBA almost always getting the bid which they subcontract to a New York PR or LA consulting firm - take their percentage (rakeoff) and run.......

OT, since you again cite no supporting facts to prove NCBA makes any money off the Beef Checkoff, it is obvious you are just blowing smoke again.

BTW, the division of NCBA doing the contract work is NOT the membership organization, but IS the national arm of the state beef councils which are members of virtually all beef organizations. They do not have to be members of the Policy/Dues division of NCBA, and many definitely are not.

So MRJ- You are saying that NCBA bids and contracts with the Checkoff and takes no charges or percentages?
You been taking SH's meds again haven't you?

This year the checkoff budgeted $3,830,000 payment to NCBA for Promotion Implementation....

You need to call Monte Reese and find the facts......

Pretty hypocritical that a group so opposed to imports such as R-Calf would raffle off a HONDA!

May be they are just opposed to imports that are used to manipulate the domestic markets. You better start thinking about it. It could be costly not to.

The Honda was donated to R-CALF, Bill. Besides, R-CALF is NOT opposed to imports per se.

Oh my mistake. R-Calf actually favors imports and is in support of not buying MADE IN THE USA. I hope all of the local small town businessmen and women are aware of that.

R-Calf is not opposed to imports? Give me a break! I am sure they now also favour a Wal-Mart on every corner selling all that Chinese and Japanese product. Sandhusker's translation of per se: R-Calf will change it's tune whenever it benefits them.

McDonell, "The Canadian Producer is not our enemy".

Sandbag: "McDonell, "The Canadian Producer is not our enemy".

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

BUT THEIR CATTLE AND BEEF SURE IS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

R-CULT: "Canadian beef is CONTAMINATED and HIGH RISK"

McDonnell: "Canada is SLAUGHTERING DOWNER COWS".

WHO THE HELL DO YOU THINK YOU ARE KIDDING THIS TIME SANDBAG???

Political double talk at it's finest!

Sandbag would naturally try to create the same illusion as Leo, he's just as deceptive. Seperate the cattlemen from their cattle. How pathetic!

What about the money state beef councils send to them with no strings attached? Your state sent them over $800,000.00 with after they had already sent their half of what they had collected. This money was not contracted for either.
