We have an older cow that has lost some condition. I was thinking of checking her teeth, but I have never done it before so I do not know what to look or feel for.

Any info is appreciated.

You can usually just feel in her mouth to see if she has any teeth, or any teeth missing (bottom row of course).
Might just sit and watch her eat, you might be able to see in her mouth.

Ususally it's the teeth in the front that wear down and start to go missing. I have seen skulls of older cows that their molars have wore like a horse and got sharp on opposite ides. I have often wondered if floating a old cow wouldn't help quite a bit. At least you do do them in a chute and not have to drug them. Would your vet have a power float?
