Mercosur announcement, WED, 7-13-05

China opened its market to Argentine beef and poultry following the certification of several plants which Buenos Aires hopes will further boost bilateral trade.

China's annual per capita consumption of beef is currently three kilograms (about 6.5 pounds).

In the first 5 months of 2005, Argentina, the world's third largest beef exporter, shipped 221,000 tons of beef valued at 488 million U.S. dollars, a 41% increase in volume and 38% in value compared to the same period in 2004. Last year Argentine beef exports totalled half a million tons valued at approximately one billion U.S. dollars.

Are we in the game? We certainly need to sell more of anything to China to offset our big trade deficit with them. China is going to be a HUGE!!!! market in the future as they raise their standard of living.

We're in the export game as long as customers take our product the way we want them to take it.
