BEIJING, June 28 (Xinhuanet) -- China will closely watch the development of mad cow disease in the United States and other countries and enhance its border inspection to prevent the disease from spreading into the country, a high-ranking official with China's Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine (AQSIQ) said here Tuesday.

The move follows an announcement by the US agriculture ministeron June 24 that a confirmed case of mad cow disease was reported in the United States.

The official said that China's current quarantine methods for mad cow disease are effective, adding that the AQSIQ will expand technical cooperation and exchange with the International Epizootic Bureau to make China free of mad cow disease while strictly enforcing the existing policies.

The Chinese Ministry of Agriculture and the AQSIQ jointly issued an urgent notification to ban the imports of cows and related products from the United States when a suspected case of mad cow disease was reported in the Washington State in December 2003.

Another example of all the countries of the world that are strengthening their border rules, BSE guidelines and firewalls- while the US is the only one trying to lessen theirs....Why does the rest of the world take BSE so seriously while the Packers and their affiliated groups, AMI, NCBA, and USDA pooh-pooh it away as nothing :???: .....Is the US so much more knowledgeable :???: I hope USDA's recent bumblings aren't a sign of things to come in the future :? :???:

Maybe China is only talking about transparency of test results and the use of tests that are accurate. The rest of the world is already using these measures, except the US!

Deception only gets you one place.

Maybe RCALF does have a lesson for the USDA, transparency. God knows that RCALF is more than transparent, with their reasons for being!
