I been hauling water every evening to my little bunch of cows. And while the tank fills the trough I am alone with my thoughts. So I been thinking some about life and how we all need second chances from time to time. I've had plenty sent my way for sure. Anyway, hope this isn't offensive to anyone. It's just my thoughts in a cowboy poem.

2nd Chances

He'd walked away from everything, his family, and his name.

He'd told himself he didn't need them, and pushed his chips into the game.

But life can be like Vegas, and he found he lost his life so fast.

He was broken, and had nowhere to turn, so he turned for home, at last.

He knew that they would hate him, and turn their backs on him.

He'd made his bed, he'd made his choice, forgiveness, well that sure looked awful slim.

And he knew he couldn't blame them, but, he had no other place to go.

He walked back knowing he'd feel their scorn, and how, his head, hung low.

But his father saw him coming, even though he was out there a ways,

And what he did is something, folks still talk about today.

With arms outstretched, he ran to his son, so happy he was home.

So thankful the lad returned to him and no longer was alone.

How joyfully, they both embraced, as tears began to flow.

A father, held his son so close, and it was then, the son did know,

The love his father had for him, was not measured by how he'd chose to live.

It was boundless, and unconditional, and his dad gave all he had to give.

That's the simple parable, the Savior taught about a prodigal son.

But to me it goes much deeper, clear back to before the earth begun.

Ain't none of us down here perfect, and especially, not me.

No way we'd make it back to God, without that night in Gethsemane.

Our Savior gave us all, a second chance, to clean the past.

And as long as we stick close to Him, our mistakes will never last.

And that's why we're taught that judgement, ain't for no one else but God.

Mind our own salvation, and worry about holding on to the iron rod.

Never give up on someone, who may have some scuffs and scars.

They still have heaven's potential, and the chance to be shining stars.

Life's about doing the best we can, and learning, when we stray, or sin.

If we are on the Savior's side, well, then we're on the side that will win.

Just like that dad, with the wayward son, all we are asked to do, is love.

Unleash those countless blessings, stored up in heaven above.

So next time, ya see a sinner, and they walk with head hung low,

Reach out your arms, and run to them,
That way they will also know.

This gospel gives second chances, and even more if that's needed too.

The Savior overcame all sin on earth,
Whether it's mine, or belongs to you.

He will never quit on us, and, by God, neither should we.

If we repent, well, that's enough,
Cause our Savior has set us free.

You nailed this one!
Absolutely love it.
Be safe and have a wonderful day.
All the best.

Sounded very appropriate, over here, in Nebraska. I resemble the remarks myself, thanks H.
