We drove out so Mama could look at the babies tonight. Got a few new ones in the last couple days I guess. There are more there then there was the last time I looked anyway!

This ol' cow is 16. I don't know if she will breed back this year. She had one in January last year and he really drug her down. Kind of a cute little baby that was born today or maybe last night.

This is another 16 year old cow. She also raised a January baby last year, but came thru in better shape this past winter. I didn't have to bring her in and feed her anyways. She is a REAL good momma! I sure hope I never have to ID tag her calf. She's a pussycat when the calf gets a little older but she hates dogs and will chase them whether she's got a calf on her or not. I think this baby is a couple of days old.

Cow closest to the front of the picture is middle aged. Probably only 8 or 9. Thats her daughter behind her with her grand baby. She's about 4 or 5.

The old cows calf was just born today evidentley. He thinks he's pretty tuff' and tried to attack the little jitney we were in!

Hope you enjoyed the pretty colored cattle. If they aren't going to make you any money, they at least ought to be pretty!

I dang sure know they are good eating. :)

Beautiful pictures JB!!

The top black and white cow is purdy, very well balanced. They all look content and slick. You are doing a good job. Never knew longhorns could have such nice big bags, they have plenty of milk (always picturing skinny roping steers when thinking of longhorns  ) you might have to get out there and take some liberties with that grandma in the bottom pic, fix that big tit if baby doesn't get is sucked down.

Oh, I would hate to take those kinds of liberties with a cow!

If he can't take care of it, too bad for im and her. This is a strictly hands off kind of cattle. I'll help one in trouble calving but thats about it. God made these cattle to be self suffcient.

Jinglebob, those ole mama cows are as pretty as a handful of new pennies  ...............good luck

PS bout time fer me ta head upstairs.

Stylish looking cows in very nice shape, alot like the pasture they're in. If you need any solid black one that calve the same time pm me, just had one today out of a heifer.
Sorry they are "shorthorn", and probably a little on the gentle side for your needs. As for value, the roping market is no good? I know about the sale barn deal.

years back, when the hubby was working for the folks who had the lease on this place, they had a mama "angus" who threw the pretty little heifer calf...all spotty, like the ones in your pictures...come to find out the neighbors longhorn bull had "jumped the fence", so to say!!! She turned out to be one of the best they raised that year!
Thanks for sharing the pix....mighty pretty babies ya got! :D

JB....love the spotted cattle. Must include a cattle tour this summer!

Your saying about if cattle won't make ya money...at least they should be pretty....sounds an awful lot like Red Green "If women dont' find ya handsome...at least they'll find ya handy"

Well...... Red and I ARE old friends.

And I do mean old!

We are so old (how old are you?) that we smell moldy. :)

Matter of fact, I'm the one who taught him about Duct tape !LOL
Glad everyone enjoyed the pix.

I'd put up lots more, But photobucket takes forever to load my pix. Wonder if it's somethin' I'm doin', or do the rest of you guys, and Soapweed especially, just have more patience than me? :???:

I LOVE that show.

BUT...it got cancelled on the station that broadcast it here.

I have a saying that I created for me

" If you have a .410 shotgun , a hammer and a roll of ' duck' tape...YOU CAN RULE TO WORLD" If ' it' needs fixin' that's what the hammer and tape are for...if it's beyond that....just shoot it!!

Bye the bye....I'm 45
