Feeding heifer calves hay out of the wind

They should be happy until morning.

A little hay makes their day.

These bred heifers blew out of a perfectly good bunch of trees.

So I am coaxing them back to shelter.

It seems a very good night to stay home to celebrate the incoming New Year of 2011. The thermometer is right at zero degrees,
with a 27 mile per hour wind and a minus 22 degree chill factor. There is still quite a bit of snow in the air, but it is hard to tell
if it is new snow or just earlier snow blowing around.

Happy New Year, Everyone. :dunce:  :santa: :tiphat:  :drink: :cowboy: :cboy:

Looks like you have everything well looked after Soap! I don't envy you your weather, I believe spending a winter down there might be a trial I may not be up to
Just think, spring isn't near as far away as it was a few weeks ago :D

Thank you, folks. I am quite enjoying the evening even though the background music is wind blowing at 30 miles per hour. It is fun just kicking back on the old easy chair with my feet propped up, reading the new book that the Kosmo Kid gave me for Christmas. The book is THE LONG TRAIL My Life in the West, by Ian Tyson with Jeremy Klaszus. It's very good reading. Peach and Sunflower are hunkered down watching NORTH AND SOUTH, a movie about the Industrial Revolution in England. Whether or not any of us can last until midnight, the start of the New Year, remains to be seen.

Soap your getting what went through here yesterday. There's quite a few of us that think welcoming in 2011 from the comfort of our homes with this storm going through is a good plan.

Happy New Year everyone! :D :D :D

We couldn't make it to midnight. We couldn't make it to 9:30. We're
just old fogeys. It's zero here with an 18 mph wind. We started watching
The Spikes Gang, an old 1974 movie with Lee Marvin, Ron Howard,
Gary Grimes and Charles Martin Smith. It was good, too~I recorded it
so I'll finish watching it in the morning.

Mr. FH has finished reading "The King of the Cowboys" which was
rated on this site as a good book and he really enjoyed it; so thanks
for the mention of the book. I am reading G.W. Bush "Decision Point"
and it's really good.

Stay safe; stay warm everyone!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well I might make it to midnite....have had a nice warm evening "snowed in"..lol As long as we have power..I'm good...but had to turn the t.v. up a little couldn't hear it over the howling wind! lol
