About a week before the sale we went to Texas to receive a 50 year breeding award for our ranch from AQHA. We stayed with the Brown's and kicked through there cattle and horses. They are very nice people with a good set of cattle and horses and excellent hospitality. It looked like there sale went well, we certainly wouldn't want to manage that many two year old bulls. The redemption bull was a good one. He was moderate but very well put together.

It is very different country and makes me appreciate good grass and water.

It was a great idea to start this thread, Soapweed.
Congratulations to some fine people who raise some darn fine horses!

Thank you very much. My Grandma deserves most of the credit, there were many times that Grandpa would threaten to sell the mares and she always put her foot down. (we are very fortunate and glad she did) She always makes it to the barn to see the first foal. We could have the best looking bull calf on the ground and she is excited about it, but the baby colts are her passion.

We met a lot of nice people at the banquet and most of them were ranchers. There were about 25 award winners this year about half were Legacy award winners (registering for 50 years in a row) and the rest were accumulative award (registering for 50 years.) We received the Accumulative award (Dad said we missed one year in 69) There are 277,000 AQHA members and they have had 160 Legacy and 183 Accumulative winners.

One of the highlights was the speech given by a seven year old boy who went on stage with his Grandpa. He thanked everybody for they honor and told us how much fun he has with his American Quarter Horse and then ended his speech by saying "we have got horses for sale at all times so please let us know what you need and we can sure help you out"

We should have taken time to look up some people on rancher's but we sure enjoyed seeing some cattle and horses at the Brown's and the four sixes stallion barns. The AQHA museum was impressive.

thanks again

Congratulations! You guys deserve it, you sure have nice horses :) FH, why would you be surprised that they didn't let us know when it took months for them to announce they had a baby

Instant success after more than 50 years of hard work. Congrats. :tiphat:
