COOL changed my buying habits. My wife likes shrimp and fish. COOL for shrimp and fish took effect a while ago.
When we were in the grocery store, I pointed out to her the tiny print on the raw shrimp and raw fish packages that designate their origin.
I asked her not to choose anything farm raised anywhere in Asia or south of our southern border. She wanted to know why? She was revulsed by my answer.
When I see pork or beef with multi-nation origins, I don't want to buy it. I haven't yet, as we have other sources (a local feedlot). I have a preference. USA beef first, Canadian second, and Mexican dead last. Somebody else's may be different, but that's what the labelling is for.
The packers won't get away long with their twisting of the rules sanctioned by the USDA.
