Haven't seen it that low here yet Silver. While you were lazing in the sun down south it was -44 and -41 two mornings in a row. Had two weeks of -30 or colder mornings but nothing like what the Peace has had.

How are your calves doing?

Silver, did your family enjoy your trip to Cancun? I never saw anything posted, might have missed it.

Could ya keep that north of the border? None of my stuff is prepared for weather that cold although record setting cold around here is close to that.

If you went to Cancun....and now it's that temp at your house.....WHY DID YOU COME BACK???????????

Silver, I spent a few winters in Rainbow Lake and Zama. Was the only time I've experienced those temps. Turn up the heat, open the door and let some of it out so it warms it up. You have made our -30C seem rather balmy, thanks for that. :(

My conversion chart doesn't even go that low :o But I do know -40 is -40 in both languages....So -50 is pretty darn cold.....

I suppose I can't even whine about my -20 and snowdrifts everywhere this morning....

+4F must be a heat wave here. I'd sure take some of that global warming this morning!

Got a brisk NW wind that I'm sure is putting the chill well into double digit below numbers. I guess this is a cool smiley? :cold:

Now, I gotta go do chores! :(

Hope you're in front of the fire Silver. Last time I saw -52C around here I was working on a service rig, 18 yrs old, and the rig push told us to start the rig. Our driller argued that it was too cold to work, but he insisted - from the comfort of his truck seat - so we tried starting it, and both the oil filters on that ol' Detroit cracked. When we finally got them off and pulled them apart, the oil wouldn't even flow out of them. It was frozen stiff. We tarped it in with a Herman-Nelson heater and let it sit for 2 days before trying again.

It's just as cold up in Alaska as well. I'm sure it's only a matter of time before that cold air spills south into the lower 48

Thats just what the themometer read cause by the looks of it thats as far as the themometer could go, so it could have been colder than what it said. It would be interesting to know for sure what the actual temp was. It could have been -60 or more ?
Keep it up there Silver. :)
Got a snow/wind warning here for tonight. Suppost to get -35 with -45 windchills. So far its quite pleasant at -17C and no wind. :)

I don't know what the record cold temp here is, but I suspect it's somewhere in the -40's. They record the temps at the airport and it's always much warmer there. We live in a valley that is often 10-12 degrees colder than what's recorded in town.
I was working in the Fontas River valley (not too far from here) several years ago and it was -63C. It's the only time I've seen it where you could spit in the air and it would freeze and make a snapping noise before it hit the ground.
This kind of weather makes me start dreaming about a shop to park the feeding tractor in. It would be nice to start out with warm hydraulics. Nice thing is that the stock waterers haven't froze up in a week or two.
Fortunately we haven't lost calf since we dosed them up with bio-mycin, it could have been much worse at -50.
Supposed to warm right up tomorrow to about -12, so I guess I won't need my jacket

I guess I should post a couple of pics of the Mexico excursion, I'll do that in Coffee Shop.
