My favorite coat when I was a kid

All decked out in denim, around 1954 or '55. Sadly, after a lifetime of ranching I lost my britches.

It had plenty of doo-dads.

The label, which reads:

A Genuine Sanforized
Billy the Kid
PANCHITO
Trade Mark Registered

The steel snaps also read 'Billy the Kid.'

I think a retro word like snazzy could describe that outfit. For sure if you had lived in town you would have been the coolest kid on the block. You are fortunate your folks bought you that outfit and even more fortunate that they took a picture of it.

I would guess this jacket is more prized by you than anyone else. But you might be surprised what it's worth. I just started watching Pawn Stars on the History Channel. They get some really unique items there and it's amazing what some of that stuff is worth.

Surely your not thinking of selling it??????
Your going to have grandkids before too long and that would be awesome to have pics of them wearing Gramps jacket.....WOW it would be so special. Hail LOL its comeback instyle anyways

Oh man that's so cute!!!! I know you ain't thinkin of sellin it....but I bet it would be a collector piece. Too bad ya lost yer britches. But at least ya have a picture.

Maybe when your grandson's or daughters for that matter come along, you could get someone to bling out a pair of britches to match.....and have thier pictures done in them as well. How cool would that be to have all of em hangin together on a wall?

Cow Wrangler stole my thunder! Singing......"Like a rhinestone cowboy"! :D Sweet outfit for a young buckaroo. You've aged...... How can I put this........... gracefully? No, that's not it. Mmmmmm......... you've aged quickly?......... No.......... How bout' you've aged! :D Which beats the alternative!

I did find this.......apparently "Billy the Kid" company that made this jacket was out of El Paso, Texas. Can't read the whole ad. Hortex Inc. is who owned "Billy the Kid" clothing line....and these jeans were known as "Texas Jeans" along with another brand "Gold Strikes" made by Farah Mfg. because both companies were based in El Paso.

Also.....Billy the Kid jeans were featured in 1950s-60s TV shows. Both Jon Provost in "Lassie" and Johnny Crawford in "The Rifleman" wore Billy the Kid Blue Jeans.

And one more thing.....remember a while back we had a photo contest that was "old clothes" I think we had.....no entries? Where was this jacket when we had that contest??? LOL ya shoulda entered it.

My neighbor just celebrated her 22nd birthday. My comment at the time to her was "Hell, I've got clothes older than you." Still wearing some of them too.

Hey, Soap, is that the same "wild-rag" or neckerchief as pictured in "A Peach and a Pit"?

Same one. Being older doesn't mean I'm any smarter. Always a bit narrow-minded, my attire hasn't changed much in fifty-some years. I wore a cowboy hat to school every day of my scholastic career, from Kindergarten through one year of college, except for the days that ear-flaps were in order. :?
