Most of the people who see this stuff don't know the difference to explain it properly. Remember we are only 2% of the US right now and I would imagine ranchers are highly outnumbered in Canada as well.

The anti-meat people are very clever and they do all kinds of things to get into peoples/kids minds. It really doesn't affect you R2, so I am sure you aren't aware of what goes on.

We just can't be too careful. Sad, but that's the way it is. There isn't anything funny about it to us who care for our industry and our cattle.
We really do have feelings for the cows in our care.

(Except for maybe some EXT's!!!)

I like my EXT'S but I am still young and can run....

REd Robin anytime you want to sit down with me and discuss raising kids you come on up-what kind of wingnut would bring porn into a discussion about a cow cartoon-like I said get a grasp on reality.

I wonder if the people that were so outraged by this cartoon got as mad when Rush Limbaugh said the way he lost weight was by cutting out red meat? Somehow I doubt it.

One thing about ol' Rush, even if he did stop eating red meat now, I'll bet he has eaten his share and quite a bit more up until now. He has helped the beef industry through the years, don't think he hasn't. :)

Up in Canada if a child gets one taste of our yummy beef they're are hooked for llife-no cartoon can sway them. Kids are remarkably well adapted at separating fantasy from reality a skill that some adults seem to lose. Let them watch it-sit down with them and explain it's b.s. You hide it from them they start thinking -if adults are scared of it maybe there is something to it.
I think it is you Northern Rancher that is giving child raising tips. I just asked a question . You can raise them the way you choose.

I confess after watching Bugs Bunny I never killed any more coyotes by dropping an anvil off a cliff on them and I totally boycotted ACme products-the sheer brutality to the noble coyote scarred me forever lol.

If you like satire Greg you'll probably be able to stand it-must be awful going through life worried that everybody and everything is out to get you-maybe if the rancher's unknotted their shorts and laughed at it people would realize it's just a silly cartoon-by squawking about it they are just helping validate the perception that beef is wrong.

Northern Rancher, I know you are trying to keep the mood light about this particular video. I am probably seeing it at its darkest. On the other hand, I think that if ranchers and people involved in agriculture don't see just a little bit of anti-meat eating in the video, they are only fooling themselves.

A long time ago, when I was a kid, it was always said that the Communists would get their way into our country without firing a shot. The Liberal agenda is infiltrated into our "thought process" by slipping it in just a little at a time, through the school systems and television. If the young pre-schoolers can be persuaded that eating meat shouldn't be done, it is a concept that they carry with them all through their years. They, in turn, do their best to force this idea into everyone else's lives, whether it is welcome or not.

Look at the packing horse industry. It is now null and void, thanks to the Liberal agenda. What will be done with all the old and undesirable horses? They will be abandoned and left to starve to death, because the bleeding hearts have put a stop to butchering them for the meat.

It all goes hand in hand.

NOT While I am teaching. I know a few others who feel the same. There is getting to be a wave of Teachers who want the kids to THINK not spit out answers. I understand you anger and standing up for your lifestyle.
I Thought about showing it to some of the 4th & 5th graders and talking abou it. I will get back to you about the results. If nothing else they will hear another side.

SD Steve....youi're right on.... and Northern Rancher, I'm with ya on that ACME boycott!!

Here is the pity to all this.....the " cows w/ guns" was just posted as an amusing little funny...PERIOD. I don't know for sure, but I doubt R2 had any ' Commie liberal vegan' agenda when she did that....but I've been wrong before, R2 correct me if we've ' discovered' you!!!

This just proves that our society has become SO anal and suspicious of each other that one side can't just enjoy a joke posted by someone on the other side of the political fence.

Really...it's spoke volumes beyond the comic aspect of it all.

You will think this is a cop-out on my part, but seriously, if you don't understand why that was offensive to some of us, it would take wayyyy too much space to explain it to you.

Did you seriously not get the sublimal message there?

It was WAY too subliminal for me.

Seriously, I took it like a Homer Simpson fantasy/dream of deranged cows marching in armies. The music made it farcical as well.

I did not equate it to anti-beef or pro-Veganism at all, not even when I finally caught on that the chickens were coming to save the cows.

And I guess I'm the intended audience this was supposed to propagandize but it failed on me.

Oh I see you watch the simpson's WELL why did'nt you tell us that in the first place that explain's alot :dunce: ......

I watch the Simpsons as much as any American with young adult children who has been awake through the 1990s. That is to say I have seen parts of several episodes over the past decade and am aware that Matt Groenig is a cultural icon, along with Homer

It may be your culture but it's not mine and it's not allowed in my home...

Now, Denny, that wasn't nice. Reader 2 has her views, you have yours, and I have mine. We can at least be civil and polite to each other, even if we disagree.

I see your point thanks.

geezzz Denny....bad day @ the office????

If you're PO'ed @ your aunt...take it out her!

I also see the ' EVIL' in this now and just because it has contaminate my computer with it's vile, subliminal brain washing...I'm just gonna chuck this computer out the 3rd story window of my house. It has been violated!!!

I've a commie vegan contaminated subliminal computer now. I bet it's even planning to invade the household breaker box and short circuit my freezers to thaw out and ruin all the meat products stored within.....yep... I betcha that it's plan!!!

This is a real head scratcher for me.
My question to you R2 is why on earth would you ever put such a disgusting thing on Ranchers net.
Have you no respect for any of us on ranchersnet ??
SHAME ON YOU!!!

A fair question.....

Would you, the Rancher's .net Club, be offend equally if the chickens and cows were REVERSED in the video? If the chx were protesting and the cows came to save them?

R2, we have just come through an era of Beef-Bashing. We got pretty paranoid about defending our product and our way of life. For some reason in this country it is never, "Live and let live." We are grossly outnumbered by liberal people taught in liberal colleges by liberal professors. They are well-educated, (meaning well-book learned), have access/control basically of most of the news media and a lot of other means by which to spread their propoganda. And kids are one of their main targets. It is extremely hard to fight them and we had to learn the hard way of the efforts of our enemies. (Spotted Owl being a horrible lesson of their strength.) In the beginning we did not take them seriously.

For your information, Willie Nelson, founder of Farm Aid, is a flaming liberal. It has been proven that not much of the money raised made it into the farmer's hands. It seems everyone has to have a 'cause' and this was Willie's. Liberals have caused us a lot of problems in the way they view things. When you really think about it, they want to take away Land, Liberty and our Right to persue happiness, IMHO.

While we are trying to feed the world, we are being attacked on all quarters. It gets to be very fustrating. So, are we watchful of things that are used against us? Yes, we are.

Hopefully, you understand a bit more of what makes us tick.

And, FWIW, my husband gets a big kick out of Willie Nelson. He is probably one of his favorite singers. But therein lies Willie's strength. ( Why do we listen to singers, actors and athletes noble opinions/causes? How much true knowledge do they really have? Are we swayed because of their popularity or because of their true knowledge?)
