What vaccinations do you give your cows and when? Seems like we've discussed this quite some time ago, but there are lots of new people here now. If you want to talk about what you give your calves that's fine too :wink:

Most everyone in this area gives 5way respirtory(sp?), Lepto/vibrio, and
8 way in the spring, and 8 way and Lepto again in the fall.

I give the replacement heifers PregGuard FP 10 (MLV IBR, BVD, PI-3, vibrio/lepto) pre-breeding, then give all bred cows, including bred heifers, that same shot in the fall. You just have to make certain they've been vaccinated with it in the past 12 months, or there is a risk of abortion. If I ran the cows through in the spring, I'd probably just give it then.

Pre-calving, the cows get Scourguard 4KC.

The calves get Vision 7 at birth and branding, and a modified live BVD/IBR/PI-3/BRSV at branding as well. Pre-shipping they receive the same MLV and Ultrabac 7/Somubac.

We give our Cows Bovishield Gold in addition to what you mentioned.

We also will use a Pastuerella when Vaccinating the calves. Our ultimate goal is to never have to doctor a calf as it goes out of our Program when that happens. So, we do go a little hard on the vaccines. It has helped a lot. I am not sure if it is all the Cattle Movement in Umatilla County woth feeding and such or the more mild and sometimes wet winters (Vs high country freeze), but we deal with respitory otherwise.
