years ago, was on an ag forum page, farmers talking about keeping cows off the hay spinner, or unroller behind the tractor, while cutting it. one guy fixed up a hot wire system, kind of complicated, those farmers went on for a few days discussing it. I posted I take a border collie... there were no new posts made.

The Border Collies have endless talents. And I was always impressed how they figure out ways to be helpful.

A friend of mine would use a 4-wheeler to feed her cows. Towed a small trailer behind it to haul the hay.
Once she reached the spot she chose to feed the cows, her dog (Irish setter x Border Collie, definitely
Border Collie instincts) would hop into the trailer, and lay down.

As my friend removed hay from the trailer, her dog would gradually get covered up with hay and not be easily visible.
Along would come a cow to eat/pull hay out of the trailer, and the dog would pop up from under the hay.

Then he would lay back down, manage to disappear into the hay and wait for the next offender.

You could tell which cows had previously encountered the "dog hiding in the hay". They would look at the hay in
the trailer but would not go near it.

Attention Older Whiskey : I used font size 18, and put more spacing between the sentences. Does this
make it easier to read ?

My Border Collie/Idaho Shag rides in the cab of the truck with me. I get out to cut twine or something and she moves to the edge of the seat watching out the door. If a cow gets too close to me she leaps out and puts the run on the cow. Then she generally jumps up on to the bed of the truck and sits there smiling at me.

Why yes, yes it does! The smaller default print size is fine, but those long one paragraph post, can really be hard to read.
