Crazy weather

Yesterday we worked in nasty weather about +20F and on again off again freezing rain and bone chilling wind. We got into the teens last night and about 1/2 inch of ice over everything.

At 6:00 AM it was back to +35 F and pouring rain - - -- up tp 60 F about noon, bright sunshine with everything melted and mud every where.

Now it is back in the 20s and going to +14 F tonight with snow possible.

Well I was able to get the brakes drained on the loader that was having problems and it was nice to feel the warmth even if it was only briefly.

If you don't like the weather in Indiana wait 5 minutes and it will change.

Trouble in this country if it comes this early it's usually wore out by spring blowing back and forth. :wink:

I thought the wind would mix the snow with sand and that would give it some weight to hold it down.

Well this morning it was +8 F with a wind chill of -12 F The contract we have for the Catholic church is requiring us to work 7 days a week !!!

This sounds strange for a church but what do you do. We got started this morning and the deacon stopped us ( Thank the good Lord ) We ran last Sunday with one excavator, one dozer and a roller and 6 dump trucks running right beside their service.

The loaders all started and ran ( only had 12 psi of fuel pressure on one for about 15 minutes then it came up ) and the excavator started for about 5 minutes and shut down - - - -this will be a pain I'm sure.

The church wants us to run 7 days a week to meet their deadline. My comment was they could have started earlier in the year and still met a March first finish date. It took them 4 months of deciding before they gave out the bids. We could have been done 3 months ago!

Oh well in this economy I'll take what work we can get.

Hang in there George...at least it is cold enough here just to freeze stuff, no ice to worry with. It is cold enough here that you only have to put your can of soda outside and in 10 minutes you'd best be gathering it or it'll be solid. According to the thermometer, it's -12 F (-24 C) outside with a windshill of -40 F and C.

Denny, did your snow materialize? I wonder if NDSU continued with the winter commencement/graduation yesterday. One of my co workers daugthers was to graduate yesterday.

The good news guys...today is the shortest day of the year! It's all up from here...
