The croc hunter- Steve Irwin- was killed by a Stingray sticking a barb into his heart :shock: If I'd of been him I'd have died of a heart attack years ago just being that close to those snakes he played with.....

That's so sad.

Seems like the good people die young and these other SOB's you can't get with the Judgement Day hammer, they go on forever!!

Over all...he seemed like a good man!
 
I always thought the man was a few bricks short of a full load, but my children enjoyed his show immensely!!!! He always got a chuckle outta the hubby, too, with his trademark "Crickey!!"!! Sad when you think about the wife and son he left behind!! Prayers go to them today!! :cry: :cry:
 
A bit disrespectful don't ya think...calling a man who was doing something for his daughter's TV show.... a wacko!!

Come on!!! There was an earlier thread about being disrespectful @ a funeral for a soldier....show a wee bit of compassion!
 
Do you remember how he held his baby while he fed an alligator?
He not only was flirting with death for his own life, he was with
his childs life as well. That got him some bad publicity.

I showed compassion for his family. I do feel for them.
No one should lose a husband or a father in the prime of their life.
It is truly sad for them.

But he isn't/wasn't a soldier losing his life in the line of duty fighting
for his country. This was something he wanted to do and made a good deal of money doing it. There is a difference. I won't argue that a life is
a life, but to compare him to a soldier is hardly fair. He was fortunate
to live his life doing exactly as he wanted.
 
Ever rode a horse with a itty bitty kid in front of you on the saddle? That's dangerous!! It would have been dangerous for me or you to have done such a stunt....but he was a professional BIG DIFFERENCE

I just saw him as man in his prime....doing what he felt was best for the world...tended his own business...raised his family and contributed to the world. Not a wacko. I hate that word and it's become the " word" of choice lately.

I meant, which you missed, was he deserves as much respect as anyone else....the soldier thead was just a recent item to compare to.
 
Steve Irwin was a colourful character often contraversial,but at least he was consistant in his belief in conservation, putting most of the money he earned into Australia zoo and establishing wildlife reserves in Australia.
My thoughts and prayers are with his family.
 
I think the thing that we will all remember Steve for is that he did what he loved to do. Maybe he didn't make a lot of money out of it in the beginning, but he kept plugging away at saving (and relocating) animals so that people and animals could co-exist. His claim to fame came out of a lot of years of hard (grueling & thankless) work.

Maybe he was brave, maybe he was just plain stupid, but he felt he had a purpose in life and he lived that life to the absolute fullest. I hope that each and every one of you is lucky enough to say the same when the time comes to leave this earth. Better speared by a ray and die in the arms of the people you loved and worked with, than hooked up to machines and comatose in a hospital.

Losing Steve is like losing John Ritter or John Denver--all died too young and in the prime of their lives. They all had so much more to give, and will be sorely missed by their families and the public that loved them so much. It is truly a shame.

He was a man that truely believed in conservation and his life work showed his passion for it. It is hard to imagine that out of all the dangerous animals he worked with that one such as a sting ray would be his final encounter.

His show will be missed in my home and with all the junk on television today to bad for yet another reason this tragic accident had to take place.
