Last fall, I was over to Mom and Dad's place cutting them firewood. Dad loved to go cruise around and gather up wood in the fall. Then we'd go cut into stove lengths for him and stack it in his shed. We cut up an old cedar stump and it had the prettiest heart wood. Dad had us set it aside and he took it down to my youngest brother since he is a crafty rascal and always building neat things. After Dad died this spring, my brother Rich brought me this amazing handmade turkey call made from Dad's saved wood. It's a pot call and the slate in actually obsidian. It works awesome!!!! Such a keep sake and Dad will always be along with us when we got after turkeys.
