dairy farmer suicide nyt article

I mentioned this to my fieldman shortly after this happened, this guy is up on all dairy news, and he acted like I was crazy-that this never happened-strange how the negative aspects to the dairy industry are ignored and this isn't even the first person who killed themselves over low milk prices.

Its sad and frustrating that some feel that after working 30 years a s a dairy farmer, seeing prices go up and way down that this is the only way to end it.

Something has to be done about getting US a more stable milk price or there won't be any small farmers left in 10 years.

When I go to the States to visit, I notice most restaurants serve margarine rather than butter. Whats up with that? Also at a lot of high end service stations, real cream is impossible to find to put in your coffee. There are all kinds of non-dairy creamers or that powdered crap. I asked an attendant where the real cream was and he said " Whats that?" and I told him it came from cows and he returned a blank look.
You guys really need to support your dairy farmers better.

While I am not a dairy farmer, I sure wish we (us) would support alot of things. It has come down to convenience. Why would the resurant manager serve real cream that goes bad when they can serve powdered coffemate that stays good along time.

You may have just found a niche market for a resterant here.

Butter, that stuffs bad for you. We have to watch out for transfat and all those other things.

Fact is people are lazy, they do nothing all day and blame alot of it on butter, real creame, to much red meat, ect, ect.

If they had to work all day then they would be heathier and could still eat what we raise, instead of importing, and coming up with a synthetic substitut.

Sorry just read that and had to vent.

We need to ask for these direct ag products even if we don't get them. A continual reminder to them couldn't hurt.

And compliment the good beef when we get it.

Horned Beef, you dont have to apologize as you are RIGHT ON the money. I read an article recently and this fake butter called margarine is almost made the same as plastic with one or two less chemicles in the mix.
