i think some of you remember me speaking of my heelers back, yaw informed me of his weight.well my best buddie went into surgery last week for a growth on his gum.the vet told me the base was down deep under the tounge.i found that if it was malignant or benine it had to be removed.partial jaw removal.he was ten years old and very debanair,my undrstanding of the jaw removal is that complete removal is at best a guess.well in short i had him put down before he could wake up from surgery cause i could not see him living a good geratic life with the removal.you must remember dakota was a 100 lb heeler,ok im feeling very sad and very guilty and soundboarding so please respond,im open to it all.

Oh that sure is a tough deal, but you did what you had to do. I sure am sorry for you - I hate the thought of it because one of our dogs is getting older and it will leave an awful hole when she goes.

You did what you know is best for your dog; I don't think you need to feel guilty but can understand that you might.

All the best to you.

I remember him He was a biggie. :D

Burnt gave you very good advice. They are ours to look after and to many people shirk their responsibility to their pets.

You did the right thing no matter how hard it was.

Take Care

I am so sorry that is the hardest decision we have to make. You made the right one.
Sending prayers of comfort in your time of loss.
Pets ...even working ones are part of our families and we mourn for them the same as a human.

help me with this if you can.dakota carried bout 110 lbs of weight.the vet always told me i had to drop his weight at least 15 lbs.that put him at a healthy weight od at least90 lbs.i want that replacement for my friend cause that was the best dog i ever had.i dont really favor small dogs but love heelers.what do you guys and gals think i should even begin to look for.when i got him 10 yrs ago he was just presented as a blue.didnt know the owners, just one of those found a heeler and got him.he had all the markings and benchmark and attributes of a true blue just larger.including the short hair.i miss my dakota and cannot phathom being able to replace that dude but id really like to have another of that stature.he was not a texas heeler, austraian sheperd and heeler,he was a heeler.when i am ready to have my heart strings pulled again i would love to stay in the same field of dog.
thanks
