A neighbor a few miles away that has a small farm had a stoke 3 weeks ago. He had sold some of his land and most all of his sheep. But he had kept a small flock of cross bred ewes. He sold them to my son for $25 a head thru in the rams and a black weather. Was a little hard loading them into a 5th wheel we had backed between two long snow banks? Had to lift one in and hold her to the front of the trailer to get the other to feed in.
His wife told my son most those ewes had triplets last year. :roll:
Then they start to lamb just as we get done But they are with the ranch sheep now, but they got bigger ear tags then the ranch sheep.

I hate triplets but these big cross ewes look like each of them can feed 3 lambs. The he got free will go down the road this spring after shearing.

I don't know anything about sheep but that sounds like a good deal for him. That ought to keep him out of trouble this spring :wink:

Nicky , Sheep are just little cows with cotton , that fallow the leader better then cows , we move(lead) ours with a sack of pellets or a bucket of grain.
A ruff figure if those ewes have 1 ½ lambs each with a 110 lb lamb at a $1 that $165 a ewe return minus the purchase price of $25 and the hay, grain and pasture(which he probally just work off) . Going to teach him how to shear :roll: so he can help this spring as he a good big stout kid, so he will also make a little on the wool. (Well the fuel to haul it to the wear house)

The old saying in Wyoming was that ranchers "ran sheep for profit and cows for pride."

Sounds like he is in line to make some money. Good for him.
