My apology for making derogatory remarks about sheep,I had no idea you were keeping sheep,my apology mam,it was not intended to be mean, everyone knows running sheep, and cattle compliment each other,my fences have never been tight enough to practice this method of ranching here in the TX Hill country,as they are all 5 strand barbed wire, and way to many varmints for it to be practical in South TX....................good luck

Now your groveling Haymaker. You probably saw that big Steer wrestler son of hers and figured you had better straighten out.

Were you on your knees when you typed that?

Maybe you should apolagize for all those derogatory Woolies comments too. I'am sure some ranch women wear them when it's cold out.

I aint groveling,I am apologizing to a lady I have admiration for,and dont be trying ta compare what you do to a pair of woolies, to what these ladies wear to keep warm :D ................good luck

Haymaker there are plenty of sheep producers that use 5 wire barbed versus the added cost of woven wire in this day and age. In fact alot of the old woven gets replaced with barbed due to cost considerations, so I wouldn't let your fencing deter you from raising sheep, just string up some new red brand fence and take advantage of a hot sheep market now! Don't worry about the coyotes I'm sure Texas has some good coyote hands to help you out! :D Just send me a few packages of lamb chops and a leg of lamb roast LOL. I'm sure with a little help you could go to market with a lamb crop around 120% or so.

Aw, shucks Hay Maker, you're making me blush!!

I took your comments in stride and I sure didn't take them personal. If I held derogatory statements about sheep against those who made them, I wouldn't have been able to speak to my own dear Dad.

Dad hated the wooly buggers, but then he was raised by my grandfather who raised horses next to a crooked sheep man he had worked for at one time. Their relationship deteriorated when the sheep man had all his cowboys take up homesteads that they were then supposed to turn over to him.

Grandpa homesteaded and decided to start ranching on his own instead of giving it up to a fellow he had no love for anyway. Things got worse over time until the sheep man had one of his hired men shoot Grandpa. It almost killed him, but unfortunately for both the sheep man and his hired man, it didn't. I'll leave the story there…

Hope you get some rain down there soon. Right now we're getting a mixture of snow and rain and the wind is blowing a gale. It's miserable out there, but what the heck, at least it's wet!!

Thank you Liberty Belle, for being an understanding Lady,I am glad you are getting some rain,I will take moisture in any form I could get it,rain snow, sleet makes no differnce,I was watching the News/weather and they are saying TX is the hottest spot in the nation today, way too early for that.................good luck
