TO JIGS....AM SENDING THIS CRAPPY WEATHER YOUR WAY!!! HAHA :D :D

you keep that crappy weather, and bring some of those good eats down here to the tropical island of Kansas!

We always have and perogies and cabbage rolls with all big meals involving family, friends and turkey. They may be new to you.

One of my favourite tricks is to put a bunch of Craisons (dried cranberries) in the turkey stuffing. Adds a nice bit of sweetness.

KATO----NEVER THOUGHT OF PEROGIES...MIGHT HAVE TO GIVE THAT ONE A TRY!!! THANKS FOR THE THOUGHT... :D

AS FOR YOU, JIGS....TROPICAL ISLAND??? WHERE'S THE SAND?? THE BEACH??? THE BRAWNY, TANNED MEN??? HAHAHAA!!!

This is a yummy recipe and makes lots and you can make ahead

Broccoli Casserole (caution - serves 13)

Cook 3 Pkg. frozen chopped broccoli as directed, drain well.

Saute: 2 med (or less) onions in
1 stick butter or margarine

Add: 1 can mushroom stem/pieces
8 oz American cheese, 1 t garlic
1 can cream of mushroom soup

Cook together until cheese is melted. Add broccoli and place in 9 X 13 pan. Top with dried bread crumbs if desired.
Bake about 45 Min. at 350. May be made ahead, refrigerated and reheated before serving.

HANTA----CONSIDERING HOW MUCH MY BOYS LOVE BROCCOLI, I WILL HAVE TO AT LEAST DOUBLE THE RECIPE!!! SOUNDS WONDERFUL!! THANK YOU, LADY!!! :D :D

A family favorite of ours

Cranberry Salad

2 lb cranberrys washed, and ground
1 cups sugar

Chop cranberries in food processor the night before and then mix in sugar and let sit over night.

Drain Cranberrys

While cranberrys drain add about 1 cup of pecans and a couple cups of grapes sliced in half. Add drained cranberrys and then use either whipped cream or about one tub of coolwhip. Chill and serve.

We like things a abit more tart than most so we cut back the amount of sugare that we put on the cranberries and we use cool whip rather than the whipped cream the reciepe calls for because we use the diet version.

My sister makes a salad out of soaked/boiled? wheat, pinapple and whip cream. There may be other ingredients that I don't know but it is my favourite at Thanksgiving or Christmas.

Maybe she will read this and finally register and give the recipe. :D

gcreek...your post made me think of the jello salad. I like the lime one...has marshmellows in it...cool whip....lime jello.....pecans....crushed pineapple.....

And I have NONE of that in my pantry.....n now my mouth's waterin. Was so hopin to avoid goin to the grocery store again before Thanksgiving.......now I may hafta....

At our "Canadian" Thanksgiving our and Nicky"s bird hunting friends from Kansas joined us for supper. Nancy had brought a huge bowl of Pistachio pudding salad. My 1yr old nephew was sitting beside me eating sweet potato and turkey stuffing so I gave him a spoonful of salad. Well he made the most horrible face everybody had to laugh   but he wouldn't take anymore food from Uncle Big Muddy. :D

gcreekrch it is Wheat Salad. My friend Kelly made it all the time and it is in the cookbook they did for her kid's. Here it is.
