These will be selling tomorrow at Valentine Livestock Auction.

All of our baldy bred heifers will be up for bids.

There are 23 head total. They will be two years old in March, and are expecting their first calf in March of this year. I did sell fifty black bred heifers private treaty to a neighbor yesterday for $1150 per head.

Aw shoot! By the title I thought you were going to explain the financing and freight to the sticks. :D

Nice bunch of heifers Soapweed, they should sell well tommorow. I don't know if any heifers would bring even a $1000 in this area. $900 seems to be the top for most breds in the last while.

I sold some last week for $975. They had a little too much white on them for some buyers  . Maybe I should throw some more cash on top of that and get some good baldies. They look nice, and bet they are as good as they look.

Those are some nice looking cattle you got there. When do they calve? I would sure like to have some of them, but don't want to calve them out. :) Two weeks ago in Brush Colorado they sold some Blk and Red Angus hfrs that brought anywhere from $850-$1350, with some of the 3-4 yrs old cows bringing $1270-$1295.

Nice looking heifers Soap-- and a pretty good price on them too...Sure more than what bred heifers are bringing up here- but all the deep snow drifts and quickly shrinking hay stacks are holding back demand and prices around here...

i just got back from a cow sale this morning, nice black heifers weighing 1160# brought 1235,the second and third calf cows from the same outfit bought 1290

Soap, we'll all be prayin' for high $ tomorrow. I hafta say, that's a nice set of real good range cows there. Say, could you tell me hoe they're bred and who'll they'll calve to? Thanks.
P.S. Mebbe I can pick some up from ya next fall. :D

Valentine had a pretty good bred cow and heifer sale today. I helped put up a windmill this morning so didn't get there for the start, but there were some young Angus cows that brought between $1300 and $1500, though most were not that high. Solid mouthed fall cows with calves at side, and preg-checked safe-in-calf for next fall brought $1375. The top selling spring calving bred heifers brought $1225. My baldies sold in two groups. Seventeen head weighed 1067 pounds and brought $1110 each ($103.97 per cwt). The other six weighed 945 pounds and brought an even $1000 each ($105.82 per cwt). Selling expense including commission, brand inspection, check-off, state vet, insurance, yardage, and vet preg checking came to $27.50 per head. This didn't include transportation costs. It sure pays to sell at home.

It does pay if you've got a buyer :D . Sale barns have a lot of overhead, and I can't fault them for the expenses, but the costs certainly do add up.

Congrats on selling your heifers, I think you did well. Whoever ended up with them should be pleased... I know I would be  .

Soap, do ya think you'd adopt a middle-aged, lazy, under-motivated guy from the desert to come live at your place? :D You have a beautiful family, a spectacular ranch, fine cattle, a good sense of humor and ya give 22 rifles as gifts! :D Glad the heifers sold well and hope the rifle shoots straight! :D
