Does the USA have enough gold to pay off the debt?

The wife and I was adding up have many lbs of gold the US needs to have to pay off our debt. So today gold prices is1643.6 and our debt is around 3 trillion so we would have to have 114,078,851,302.02 lbs of gold in Fort Knox. Now do you think its there or not. I for my self don't think so.

US Debt Clock shows 286,912,729 oz. on hand. That would make it worth roughly 1/2 trillion. So to answer your question.....not even close.

I may be wrong, but I think the 3 trillion is the budget deficit. Our total debt I think is 14.7 trillion. But whose counting. Don't get me started.
