Those wonderfully hot days of the season are upon us. Means early rising and working before it gets too hot.

Watching the sun creep over the horizon, making it's grand entry!

A fireguard trail. We made 30 miles of fireguards all thru the pastures. Just for roads to travel, and gives firetrucks a trail to show where you can cross draws and creeks. Also slow fires down.

Can't help but recall one of my favorite Ian Tyson songs about the Good Lord giving Charlie Russel the responsibilities of painting sunsets...cuz' he "could'nt paint them quite as well"

...so who paints the sunrises ?

oh anyways...careful how close you get to the next honeybee, yellowjacket or hornet you photograph...they CAN get a little irritated this time of year...

Now you have a job that I like! Your pictures are so clear and awesome...Whoever said ranching was hard work...they're right! I know how tuff it is to take pictures of things that move...bees, butterflies, cows, horses, and dogs,,,,flowers and weeds blowing in the breeze...It takes lots of concentration and accurate button pushin! When ya get your photo's all framed up and have a show...let me know and I'll be there! Breathtaking pictures!

Real nice pictures

Good Idea those fire gaurds, I made mine in june when I could still get the offset disk in the ground. Had lots of jeep trails from well to well that were couple ruts wide that needed smoothed out anyway so killed two birds with one stone. Saw first hand last couple dry years how fireguards can make a big differnce. Hopefully hunters will stick to the trails in fall for traveling and parking but probably not

Glad you all enjoyed the pics, thanks.

Kola----In this country you either drive or open gates. Ever see a dog open a gate? I think not! Of course he was drivin---

Lt---Bees and insects seem to leave me alone? Wished salesmen and phone solicitors were as good to me.

Papster---you're sure welcome to come ride your mule thru this country anytime. Gurantee you won't run into anyone. Might want to pack a little extra water---the holes are getting pretty low and far between.

Jassy---You must have missed my Clicker Beast poem a month ago in Coffee Shop, I'm just an addicted clicker. ( you might want to check it out) Aint gonna be no showin. Leave them things for the experts, us amateurs do this for the fun of it

K_ranch----We've been running fireguard on this ranch forever. That's part of the rules when hunting around here. Stay on the paths, keep the gates shut, and no smokin. Most are pretty darn good about it. We're pretty paranoid about fires around here.

JingleBob---- aw it twernt nothin I just squeezed the clicker!

Thanks again everyone for the compliments---EP.

Great Pics.
I took a cue from you and feshened up some fireguards today and hope to finish tomorrow. We had our first fire Friday night but a timely shower dowsed it for us. Thankfuly as the wind before the rain hit was about 70 miles/hour.

Beautiful colors you found out there! The tans and taupe shades in the hills you caught are very restful looking from a distance, a nice change from green, green, green which is about all we see.

I have to complement you on your pictures too.

I like the landscape pictures with the cattle. The pictures of the bees and butterflies on the thistle are great too. Unless you have tried to take pictures of plants you don't know how difficult it is to get good pictures of them. What's the other flower? an evening primrose?
