My neighbor got enthused about old John Deere tractors and bought a 1930 something model A which he was working on.

He had it parked near his house on a trailer when, for no apparent reason, one of the rear tires blew out. It had ballast in it thoroughky covered one side of his house. Had to repaint it to get the stain off.

Couple of days later, I stopped by and he was using a rag to get gasoline out of a cylinder via a spark plug hole. He had forgotten to turn the gas off and the gas in the tank had drained into the cylinder. I suggested that instead using a rag that he just stick an air hose into the cylinder and it would blow the gas out.

He did, but he had a quick release on the air hose nozzle. The release caught on the edge of the spark plug hole and shot
the nozzle into the cylinder slick a could be. Neighbor turned white, knowing that he was going to have to tear the engine down to retrieve the air nozzle.

Having been a participant in this boondoggle, I suggested that if the nozzle had gone into that hole, it would come back out.

In a couple of minutes, we had retrieved the air nozzle. He went back to sucking the gas from the cylinder with the rag.
Slow learner.
