A spare sickle bounced off the carrier on the double bar mower, and got lost in the hayfield. The sickle got raked in with a windrow, and it eventually went through a baler. This is not a recommended procedure, even though the outcome is rather ornate. Three baler belts were wrecked in the process. We ordered one new belt, and spliced together two good belts out of the three cut up ones. All's well that ends well.

Polaris Ranger pretty stuck--all six wheels

I knew there was a reason I took the carrier off the double bar I bought, looks like your pasture could use a drink. Here we are starting to look like August, but with harvest here maybe we will get some rain and bring on some grass, won't take long to hay unless I can find some CRP have maybe 2 more weeks and then done. Also have my eye on 4 miles of highway ditchs to hay. Have a good 4th

Thanks for the pixs  Still have 100 acres of alfalfa down and cannot get any toughness to it -rain is forecast for the next couple of days-hope the hay gets WET! Been baling grass hay also and not a lot of it,but good what is there. Have a great day and hope you don't need any more major repairs  Also, since Peachblossom mowes-hope she didn't get blamed.

Mostly just from herself. Later that same day, she took the jet ski down to the lake for a refreshing evening ride to put the rest of the day behind her. She backed the six-wheel drive Polaris Ranger which was pulling the jet ski trailer, out into the water to unload. It worked great. She unloaded, whooshed around the lake a few times, and then reloaded the jet ski right at sundown. Unfortunately the Polaris had settled into the mud in the time she had been gone. It was really stuck, and the wheels wouldn't even spin. :(

Meanwhile, back at the ranch, a couple visitors had shown up. I drove them down to the lake so they could say hi to Peach Blossom. We arrived just in time to give her a ride home, and save her a mile-and-a-half walk. We decided to just leave the stuck Ranger until morning.

The next morning, we tried several times to ease out the Ranger by gently pulling with a pickup. This was after scattering out about two hundred feet of chain and tow-rope, to get on firm ground up and over the bank. I decided to try with the pickup one more time, before going back to the house after a four-wheel-drive tractor. Giving just a little bit more gusto, and depending on the tow-ropes to ease the strain, the Ranger finally broke free of the mud.

Peach Blossom felt kind of bad about the troubles that befell her, but I said that 364 good days per year and only one bad one wasn't too bad of a record. She is usually the one that has to tail me up for stunts that don't pan out. All is well that ends well. :)

Wonderful pics, Soapweed!!!!!!! Thanks for the warning about losing stuff in the hay field, even though I don't have a hayfield to worry about........

So, which one is Ms. Blossom? Great pic of the whole bunch!

:cboy:

Peach Blossom is second from the right in the middle row, standing, wearing a checkered blouse.

Let me think how much I miss my old Haybine compared to JD Disc Mower....ummm not at all. I understand you're supposed to get less leaf loss on alfalfa with the sickle bar, but damn, you have to go sooooooooooo slow.
