Just unloaded the new studs after a long day on the road-I had to pick from five and couldn't make up my mind between these two rascals. Check out the eagle on this horses rib-he's getting my draftier mares.

Here's one for Mrs. Greg he's out of 'X Marks the Spot' and 'Painted Frown' I think we'll call him 'X Marks the Splat' lol. He's pretty solid for a two year old he'll get our more quarter horse type mares.
 
nice looking broncs. new to the site been reading for a while. thought i would reply. we have a few bulls down here. i flanked for harper morgan for years he is out of la. nothing nicer than a saddle bronc an rider tapped off together. but it is nice to stick there head in the dirt also. keepem bucking.
 
John Larrick (MSU Rodeo Coach at the time) traveled into northern AB about 10-12 years ago to get some bucking stock for MSU. Those were really nice horses. Every one he bought was very sound, almost a shame a person couldn't have made hitch horses out of them. They were just real sound and solid. Bucked good though. They were all paints, but solid, rather than the roany look. Would you know anything about where he might have gotten those, NR?

Geez you had to ask now I can't think of the names-you don't remember the brands on them do you- VF's are Vern Franklin, these horses are -U, maybe he could of got them from Art Peters or Rudy Ostrom. Art usually hauls the broncs from where I got these two colts. There were 25 studs running together in one pasture talk about a kid in a candy store. I'm a very lucky guy to be able to access those kind of genetics it sure kicks your program ahead alot of years. Got some bad news today Ty can't enter Calgary because he wasn't 16 on Dec. 31, 2006 not till Feb. 2007. He is not a happy camper at all-that and two rodeos he could of got on five head at are cancelled. One thing Alberta isn't short of is good bucking horses-hope I can get to raising a few more.
 
your horses look great, I love the guy with the eagle on his rib, that's cool!

are your horses bucking stock, I didn't catch a yes or no, :)
 
Harper bought a producer out from Regina he had a bunch of the feather footed horses. It was a long way from Lake C harles La. to there an back. We dont have alot of the big horses down here I think the climate is to hard on them. We will have to get together an talk horses an bulls some time. We have a few rank bulls, good an tough from the river bottoms. Hard to beat one of them if you can get the fight out of them.
 
i imagine it's a bit of an eyeopener for someone from down there the first time they draw into a pen full of Kesler or Franklin horses up lol. I guess Calgary has one or two that might just throw you off too-some little stud named after a coconut comes to mind :wink:
 
I dont go as much as used got alittle older married an 3 girls. You think bucking stock cost alot. We have 21 bulls an a few horses. We like to start them then sell and then do it aginWe have a little arena a if we can find some guys to get on them we buck them a couple times a week. Most of the time they fight over one muley. they aint made like we used to be
 
They're all nice looking horses NR,esp the painted one. Darn,I almost had greg convinced to go to Calgary,using Ty as a bait. :cry:
 
Really nice stock Northern, will TY be teachin them how to throw a fellow or are they breeding stock only?
 
Well you and Greg can come to Medicine Hat in midAugust for the Highschool finals should be a good deal. Ohh for sure Judith they're buckers-they've just been dummy bucked but we'll probably try them with a rider next week. They're nice to handle as they were hauled to rodeos all summer with their mothers as babies. Flankman I'm pretty lucky here got a few pretty eager test pilots that will get on whatever we run under them.

Judith "dummy buck" is when they strap a dumb person on!! :lol: just so you know! :lol:
 
Those horses came from Rudy Ostrom and would of been half brothers and sisters to that big blue roan stud I ran the last two years.

The type of horse fits, NR. They were pure draft looking and just put together real nice. Like I said, a person almost wished you could get them broke to drive because this was before the Spotted Draft Horse Association got going with their expensive crappy horses-these horses were just a sound as the day is long. The mares were still bucking a couple years ago and they would be better than 15 years old. It seems like the story goes that they were running pretty wild before they came down. But, you know how rodeo stories are........... :wink:
