We just got back from Williams Lake early this A'M-it was quite a finals to say the least. A great old rodeo town right smack in the middle of cowboy country. Ty was second in the bareback and second in the broncs his first perf. On day two he split first with the guy who won the first round in bares. He drew a rank horse in broncs-she slung her head back and knocked hios foot out of the stirrup. Day three saw him ride before the leader in bareback-he was 75 so Lane Collins had to be 74 to beat him. Lane rode last and was 76 so Ty ended up 2nd in Canada in bareback. He had a bit of bad luck in broncs-his horse flipped over backwards on him in the chute-he should of climbed off and reset but he just grabbed his rein and knodded when she got back on her feet. I think his cage was still a bit rattled because he bucked off at six seconds-he ended up 5th in saddle bronc-he really needed to cover that horse but that's rodeo. He ended up third in the all around. C+ Rodeo had the stock and they were awesome-over a 100 outs in the broncs and bares with only one reride and that was a kid who got fouled in the chute.

When you hit town you know your in cowboy country.

Boy the young kids here sure got an eye opener at our local PRCA rodeo- about 3-4 of the local High School/college kids were in it- and Brookman brought his top horses...I think only one of those kids got his horse covered- not too bad a ride but never got high in the front end and only got a 68.....

I'm going to make a prediction that the kid from Great Falls- Jesse Kruse is going to be a Worlds Champion someday if he don't get hurt...Just a natural bronc rider- and last night put a ride on a good horse (but dirty in the front end) and never missed a stroke for an 80 something ride to win it....Been drawing hot and riding just as well- and up to 12th in the standings now...
I think old Billy Etbauer may have someone coming up that can take his place and he can retire

:) 2nd in Canada...pretty dang good!!!! Tell Ty I said congrates!!He better have good seats for us when he hits the CFR-NFR in a couple yrs.

Hanna entered a number of riding competitions at a local fair this weekend...she came away with a first in lead and a third in the trot class. She was awefully proud of those ribbons.

The old bareback champ standing with Ty is even starting to LOOK like a school teacher.

I was in HS rodeo with the Derose family, the youngest boy and I were very close until he got killed in an auto accident at 18 yrs. Both their parents were there watching and supporting the kids just like 30 yrs ago.

Well at least it's not in front of a KFC lol. Almost as nice as Meadow Lake's big bronze saddle bronc on main street. Actually as far as towns go-there's not much difference between the two-even the hockey teams have the same name.

NR- In a couple of your posts you mentioned Ty going to Miles Community College...Its a good school as I had two daughters that went there-- also over the years they have had quite a bit of success with their rodeo team..A couple years ago they had some big blowup over the coach(s) and several of the kids transferred out- but they should have that all straightened out by now.....

Definitely a cowboy town- and doesn't lack for cowboy activities- day or nite  ...

And I can't believe the Canadians have stolen our A &W's--we used to have lots around the state- and the only one I know of today is in Roundup....

Ty and the rodeo recruitor bonded pretty well-talked about hunting more than rodeo. Montana State and Western Oklahoma State showed some interest too-nothing is a done deal for sure. I never talked to Wally Badgett myself yet but the other Saskatchewan parents were very impressed with him-sounds like an upfront honest guy. I guess we'll see what next year brings were down to about 10-12 rodeos to hit for this year. The highlight of Ty's finals was Davey Shields Sr. shaking his hand and calling him a sticky S.O.B lol.
