It's going to get cold tonight. Remember to drain you fire wagon pumps and any other that would be in danger of freezing.

You guys in Florida and south Texas can stand at ease. :D

I added antifreeze to everything a few weeks ago except our camper hopeing to maybe use it one more time dureing deer season but it may be a dry camp.

Coldest night yet out here tonight. Fall has arrived and brung the chilly temps with it. Garden is history for 2012 but the snap in the air means the deer hunt is just around the corner! :D Nothing to drain but another Pepsi.

Thanks Big Muddy, I'll go drain my land roller in the morning.

It was -15 here this morning.

I keep my roler filled with used motor oil - - - I guess it will never rust from the inside and I don't have to remember to drain it! The oil in it is about 30 years old!

Good idea George, thanks.

Dumb question here from Kansas, what do you guys use the land rollers for?

As a real life, dark ages, small time farmer, we use one for packing after the seed drill and pushing small rocks down to ground level. You wouldn't turn around with an air seeder in our little fields.

don't know what other's use their's for, but i use mine to push the rock's into the ground so as not to interfere with cutting operations. don't do it every year unless we have to use the chain or crazy harrows to spread residue and manure, they tend to pull the love stones up

The garden looks sad this morning! I covered most everything I wanted, but the pumpkins and honeydew's are pretty droopy even so. Tops of the tomatoes and peppers froze where the plastic touched them. It's only supposed to freeze through tues so guess I'll keep trying. Or maybe I'll pick everything, we'll see. Was going to let the cukes go but we had a load of straw delivered yesterday and he said his wife's cukes didn't grow so she didn't do any pickles. I said I'd cover mine if she wants them, and she did.
