Driving Me Crazy!

Coast to Coast store in Deer Lodge did a lively business. They were great people and if you needed something on Sunday and called them at home,
they'd go down and get it for you.

BUT...when that phone started ringing after 5:15 in the afternoon, forget it.
They refused to answer. You could go down there and they'd let you in,
but they refused to answer the phone after 5:15 unless NO ONE WAS IN
THE STORE and that never seemed to happen.

I've had beauty operators stay on the phone when they are doing my hair......that doesn't create long time customers. :P :D

What burns me is when they are going to call right back then you sit and wait for 2 hours. Not so bad with cell phones now but we don't have the greatest cell service so still use the land line a fair bit. :?

A favorite line - "Stay right by the phone, I'll call you right back".

Riiight!

Well soap we were at till's 1 and 2 but the phone is at till 3.
I've had customers complain about clerks answering their cell phones while checking them out. I only did it once and that is when my mother was rushed to the ER with chest pains the customers understood and I kept apologizing.

Our stores owner delivers groceries to shut in's and elderly people who cannot get out.
We have one sweet lady, I love her, who always seems to call around 7pm to 7:30 pm and right when we are busy.
I answered it in the back one night and was taking her order when my co-worker started ringing the bell. I couldn't hang up on her. I had a customercome to the back and yell at me that I was needed up front. I held up the phone in one hand and the pad and pen in the other and told him I was taking a phone order and would be out as soon as I was done.
He felt bad for yelling at me. Told me he had come in the back before and found some of my co-workers sitting there doing nothing and ignoring the bell.

Shoot me please!!!!

We have a guy working at the store and I have never worked with a lazier person in my life. I really wanted my hot shot and believe me I was ready to use it on him.
He was standing by the till complaining that there was nothing to do.
I told him that the door windows and outside windows can be washed and the front entrance cleaned. He walked off so guess who did all of that? Me.
Had to tell him 3 times to run the dairy last night and then found that he screwed up the milk. He put all the new stuff in fronrt of the older stuff.
Told my co-worker who was working with this to not let him touch the milk again and check the dairy over closely.
We discussed what this guys problem is. Is he mentally impaired or just flat lazy? We agreed he is just flat lazy.

Caught him sitting on the till with his back to the door also had to tell him twice to not do that. Really sucks that I have to act as a manager on certain days.
Talked with the store manager and was told I neede3d to tell the owners what happened. I had already told the floor manager, but nothing was done.
This guy is a waste of money.

hayguy I like my job there are just a few co-workers I cannot stand.

I work with this other guy and it only took us a half hour to unload a pallet of frieght that stood over 6 feet tall. There is 3 of us if they just turned us loose we kick butt on getting things done.

I don't mind the hard work I am used to it. I just cannot stand lazy people.

Good for you for not answering the phone when you have customers in front of you. I attended a marketing seminar once and that is one of the first things they talked about: 'Employees should never abandon a customer who is inside the store to answer the telephone. You could lose a good sale from a customer who cared to come down to your store over a phone call asking about the price of an item or even merely asking a question.

Since then, it has irked me when the person helping me stops and answers the phone! Poor business!

That is a two-edged sword. If I was running the business, I would want the person at the desk to answer the phone. Yes, the conversation needs to be short and sweet, and it might need to be said to the caller that there is a customer waiting, but the phone should still be answered. The caller might need to know if a certain part is available before traveling many miles to town to get what they need. A customer should have that much patience to understand. If the phone is not answered, the caller might not even know if the business is open that day.

I hear you Soap. Even if they ask me to hold so at least I know when it's my turn I'll get the help I need. I want to know if I should make the long trip to town or not, and waiting for a return call doesn't work when you don't have cel service and sitting by the phone while hay is dry is a good way to get me bent out of shape.
I don't want to butt in line with my phone call, I just want in the line.

Found out how much my bosses appreciate me.
I got my 3rd raise in the 8 months I have been working there.
It was a really nice surprise.

Nothing gravels my a$$ any faster than to be at the parts store being waited on and some no-mind calls up, the parts person answers it, and within seconds proceeds to abandon me and look up all the parts the twit on the phone wants!

I have walked out of the parts store more than once (we only have the one) and traveled 20-40 miles to get what I needed out of town. The owner of the parts store corralled me once and asked me why I left him hanging the one day, and I told him the guy on the phone's business seemed to be more important to him than my business was, so I went out of town and got it cheaper. He doesn't answer the phone anymore while waiting on me, but the help still does, and out the door I go. First come, first served. The guy on the phone can call back in a few minutes if it's important.

"Well, I'm kinda in a hurry---I'll go home and call ya'" Interesting watching that one sink in.

Another i still chuckle about---I've had them send wrong part with no reason--either had part # or old part--then helpfully explain to me "no problem, just bring it back" I explain that it is a problem--but not mine--"just run 'er up"---anyhow, after spate of this (2 is a 'spate' in my world of this type of crap) I was in need of some parts from an outfit who didn't recognize my name. About an hour in for me, my wife was coming home from visiting her dad, couple of hours east of parts place. So--I call them up, say this is so and so, my wife will be in, in the next couple of hours and has a list of parts for n.h. baler---I now need this, this & this also---and I give them the part numbers. And--by the way--you give her the wrong parts, I'm gonna drive in and break your nose."

So honey drives up, identifys herself and says I got a list here---the guy says 'you bet--your husband called and also wants these items---and...er...by the way....How Big is He?"

I about hurt myself laughing!
My co-workers got a rude awakening this week!

The owners came up with a new set of rules and boy are several of these peoples noses out of joint!

No cell phones while clocked in. No texting!
No smoking while freight is being unloaded out back.
We are allowed 2 fifteen minute breaks every 2 hours. No going outside for several smoke breaks and count that as the breaks.
No sitting on or at the till's.
No standing around doing nothing at the tills.
No "hiding" in the back. I about died laughing! I remember the day this happened and the owner was PO'D!

Had a co-worker complain it was like being treated like a 5 year old. Almost said that they needed to stop acting like 5 year olds and we wouldn't need these rules.

Had a customer yesterday look at me and say they really wished we would get sweetheart bread in again! Where is the heading beating on the wall icon?
YEESH!

Owners turned the cameras back on too!
Hopefully they start backing up the new rules they did up.
