I always enjoy his videos. There were a few comments on this one I thought notable.

Thanks for posting this Traveler. He is very diplomatic in his comments. Read between the lines and cattle producers and independent feeders are one step away from the status of contract chicken farmers. The packers hold all the cards, and we let it happen.

This has been said for years. The sky is falling...

How many ranchers and cattle feeders has the industry lost in the last 10-15 years? Sit in an auction barn in many areas and see how many active bidders there are for your cattle as the number of small to medium size cattle feeders exit the industry.

I think it's a bit polyannish to not at least be vigilant and listen to different views of those involved in the industry. I'll stop there since it's Thanksgiving.

One thing he mentioned was the easing of age barriers on beef going to Japan, which should be a good thing.

From what I gleaned out of that I had better keep my light hfrs and tail end strs for a while. The feed yards may be hungry for feeders after the lots dry up.

Didn't really get any indication what the Non fed market is doing. I have some culls to sell.

We spayed a bunch of smaller heifers, and keeping the lighter steers for grass cattle. The cull market seems soft. Not sure if the number of dairy cows being slaughtered has tapered off. Maybe they slipped in some more Water Buffalo from India and Australia.

Faster Horses, did you listen to the Feeder Flash?

Brought to us by Cargill Vigortone, remember all those guys that said Cargill mineral was so much better then Vigortone?

Guess they didn't know what Cargill knew. :cowboy: :lol2:
