Feels like summer is officially here in Kansas with temperatures in the upper-90's all weekend.

Shade tree was a popular place on Friday afternoon

These cows didn't wander too far away from the pond all day

With the cows all out to summer pasture, its also time to get some farming done.

Because with all this heat - the wheat is changing in a hurry...

We started cutting down here by the oklahoma border on Sat. Afternoon. Mid 12's to low 13's on moisture and wiegh mid 60's. Rained this morning so probably won't cut today. Just wondering where all the wheats gonna go terminals are all full and local elevators still tryin to make room.

I know exactly what you mean. Local co-op's cash wheat bid is -1.30 basis kc wheat. We have some on-farm storage but not near enough.

nice looking cattle and country. i'll agree with FH, you can keep the heat. we're having hell getting out of the 70's and i like it. :D

thanks for the pictures.

Yeah, those "weeds" were sprayed that same day. I'm sure my father loves me advertising his thistle crop!

I just noticed your website. my wife and i went down there a year ago and almost bought a group of bred heifers..... looking back, I wiush I had bought that group rather than the ones i bought ... you guys have some nice looking cattle there. I am hoping to add another 50 cows next spring, may be visiting again!

rjn5097, you may have already answered this, but what part of Kansas are you located in?

You're pastures look great! From Des Moines south, it's been too much of a good thing with rain...close to 8 inches of it along the Iowa/Missouri line since the first of the month

garn, we are located in NC/NW Kansas, about 50 NNE of Hays. We've been really fortunate this year as it comes to rainfall. It was a little wet during calving season, but was certainly manageable. The crops look great though. We will probably be cutting wheat in the next week to 10 days and the corn/beans are really taking off.
