with so many snow drifts and hard deep snow around i am having to cut some of my fence wires, rather than plow, just to get to the haystacks. what is there to reconnect these wires other than tying a knot in them. i use 16 or 17 gauge galvanized wire and some 14 gauge.

We haven't used them, but I would think those crimping sleeves would work pretty well.

Gallagher used to sell a deal that looks like a Chinese finger trap, just push the wires in and they have teeth inside to hold the wires. I think they are $2-$3 each.

Gallagher also has spiral wraps that work really nice on high tensile. I've never had one come apart yet and they don't bite into the wire or kink it. Just wrap it on and they hold.

thanx for the input, i have been using a ratchet tensioner to connect,or splice. but am looking for something faster and less bulky. the sleeves are a possible alternative.

Most connectors are made for 12 1/2 ga wire. 14-17 ga is way to small. Just hand wrap it. MUCH cheaper.
