Fate Of Rail Line Key For Proposed Ethanol Plant

WAGNER, South Dakota (AP) - The future of a rail line may be a key issue in a proposed ethanol plant near Wagner.
Former Rosebud Sioux tribal Chairman Charlie Colombe says the line between Wagner and Napa Junction near Yankton will have to be renovated if the plant is to be built.
He and other members of the Wagner Ethanol Group and the Napa-Platte Regional Rail Authority want a two (m) million dollar South Dakota Rail Authority loan to update 50 miles of track.
Colombe says his group will pay for a 35-thousand-dollar study to see if enough grain is available to support an ethanol plant and how big the plant should be.
