I guess when it rains it pours... extremes one way or the other.

First off my wife's car wouldn't start this morning. Batteries and extended cold weather - go figure.

Power company came out and fixed our power troubles. Had back up power since 9:30 p.m. December 23rd - pto driven generator. There is an underground cable coming from the power pole in the background into our main yard and it had faulted in the middle of the road between yards for the second time in about a year. That was hard digging.

Tractor got a work out running pto generator and headed to town for aromatherapy, manicure, pedicure, spa treatment, and face lift.

Finally got to go check cattle. Had to get yearling breds and calves to come out of the breaks the expensive way.

Well worth the walk

they know how to stay warm - probably really didn't need to feed today but it feels good to make them happy.

As a Lineman electrician and a liker of good Herefords, you were somehow able to capture my attention! :D Glad ya got the power back on. Hope your cows and cars winter well! Thanks for the pictures!

Glad you got everything going, but it sure gets spendy when a tractor needs repairs. I noticed that KY brand......pretty slick

I've had a few days like that, power is pretty dear when it takes diesel to produce it. We have no hydro so we left the plant run for the two weeks of cold we just experienced. Nice to start warm engines in the morning but 50 bucks a day add up after a while.
Hope it's not too serious of a make-over for your tractor.

Well, I've pretty much learned to multiply JD's work estimates by 3 or better. I'll be upset if it ends up over $1000 - they owe me for mistakes they made working on it early this spring and I will make sure and remind them if they try to overbill me this time (long story that I would love to run those guys down about but I just get depressed thinking about it).

it needs a new block heater and starter but mainly there is a draw in the main wire harness that I am not enough of an electrician to figure out. Won't keep a very good charge. Also they need to put new seal kits in the rear remotes and loader couplers since they screwed them up this spring  that cost me a big, big custom hay job I have had for a long time. I need to think about something else now.

that was done back in the day when there wasn't much expense spared. It is pretty cool though and that brick building is one of my favorite outbuilding - always liked the fronts on that building era.

As it is 350 miles to our dealer I have had to learn to be a mechanic. Wiring is still a problem for me, no matter how many times it has been explained I still can't comprehend it. :dunce:
Just so happens there is a neighbor down the road that does though.

I try and fix everything I can but I am more than retarded (where is the retard smiley face) when it comes to electrical. I had a friend from town come out and try and help figure out the electrical problem one evening and all we did was scratch our heads. we were about to tip the cab off the tractor and I finally said screw it - wish I had your neighbor.
