I thought these pictures might bring back memories. They were taken by my brother in law this summer. I am also wondering if you know anything about Douglas Lake/Alkali buying the Circle S. I ran into R. Wiggins a while ago (at a ski hill believe it or not!) and that is what he told me.

Yes, Douglas Lake bought the Circle S and added it to Alkali.

Talked to B.T. in early March, said he was going to enjoy the challenge. He was busy with a crew making up loads of scrap iron from Ol' Lyle's collection. Said there was really only 1 building worth saving. They trapped about 40 wild cattle at Little Dog this winter, some of them were 4-5 years old and not branded.

D.L. bought 275 cows to put on the ranch as L.J. had sold everything previously. Those and I would guess a bunch of their own heifers will make a starter herd. The range had mostly been lost so they will have to build back up. Fencing is going to be a big undertaking.

Think Canoe Creek and Astrid's will be next?

Those photos are cruel to someone in the mud and knowing different.

Phoned L. R. at the Gang a couple days ago. He said it's really dry there again this year.

I know that Astrids was for sale so it will likely go soon, but I hadn't thought of Canoe Creek. I thought it was pretty secure.

They've had water shortage issues for several years now. I understand they've been about half stocked for the same amount of time.

This is WHR's significant other, and I have a bone to pick with you, gcreek. You know this guy. Giving him the above information is tantamount to inciting him to pack his bags and run away from home. I think I might have a good case in court. N.

Well it might be familiar to Gcreek and a few others, but there are a few more who would like to know where in the world you gotta go to see such beautiful scenery!

The river is the Fraser River, on the far side is Gang Ranch and the near is the Alkali Lake Ranch and the Circle S ranch, which according to gcreek are now the same. This is all SW of Wms Lake B.C. I think it is pretty spectacular country no matter how often you see it. Unfortunately for me it is very seldom right now.

If you've got around 100 million kicking around Burnt you could own all that and a lot more. :D
When you come for a visit at the right time of year we'll take a tour through there.

WHR, it's been a long time since I was through there, is that Little Dog in the first 2 photos?

How I'd love to have a thousand or two acres of that country this time of year. Then I could retreat to the swamps again..........

N., if you can send him here and get him past the Fraser I could probably break him of his BC habit in a month or so. :D

You're right about Little Dog. The first one shows the round hill at River Camp and you can see the canyon where the Chilcotin River joins the Fraser. Actually this time of year the thought of Anahim Lake makes me shudder. Maybe try me in August or September :)
