We made our annual trip south 300 miles to spend a week or so chasing deer with our muzzleloaders. It's our tradition and we look forward to it for 11 and a half months a year. We may never make Disneyland but I am pretty sure none of us care!
The fall colors were in full display. The bucks we wanted to harvest were old and smart and won the match. The younger bucks were left to get bigger for another year. But the time spent with family and nature was the best vacation I can imagine and I am better for it! I wanted to share our little piece of pure paradise with ya'll. Here's the two little H's in the high country of southeastern Utah.
An evening veiw looking west at the Bear's Ears.
Looking across a drainage at a favorite ridge that tops at 11200 feet. You gotta find them to hunt them.
Looking a long way through the spotting scope. Do ya see the bucks?
How about now?
From a couple of miles away, it might be tough to tell how good they are. This buck was a nice deer.
Scenery from the top of the ridge i was just looking at through the scope. No buck killed but I did capture the sights. Here's west....
And North.......
Mostly East.......
And some South.
Pretty much nothing to be said here!
Mrs. H had close encounter with a black bear. 12 feet is pretty close. The bear decided that her and her Dad were more than he wanted to tangle with only after posturing and being real aggressive. She didnt catch it on film but I did find lots of bruin tracks in my travels.
If I'd a only bought a squirrel tag!!!
More western vistas.
From the high coutry to this "low" country at 8000 feet, it was all pretty.
Just me shooting at the sky!
And the clouds and trees!
Even an inch of hail accompanied by wind and lightning couldnt swipe our smiles!
Slickers kept us mostly dry!
Littlest H in his custom made slicker. Hope ya'll can take a minute this hectic fall to appreciate the beauty that surrounds you wherever you may roam. God is AWESOME and so are his creations! Be Blessed ya'll!
