At our Thanksgiving dinner last fall, our daughter-in-law mentioned that they were shopping for baby furniture. Our oldest son, a man of many skills, suggested that maybe he should build some for her and his brother.

Wow, she was all over that idea in two shakes of a lamb's tail!

So After dinner, we headed back to the hardwoods and cut a big black cherry tree for building a crib. And so began a family project of crib (and accessories) building...

Nope the chair is "bought". Always wanted to try my hand at building one of those though. You maybe just gave me an idea for the next couple of weeks!

Baby is make his appearance around March 12.

You could say that we're getting a bit excited. :D

Beautiful....put's a spin on "vertically integrated"..."value added"...and "some assembly required"   congrat's to the happy family

How long did it take the wood to dry?

It was kiln-dried for a couple of weeks, maybe a bit more. The sawmill had the whole package, saw, kiln and planer so it really cut down on the initial heavy work.

However, the headboard still developed a small crack when our son had it set up in their house. Hardly noticeable, but still a bit of a disappointment.
