Farmington Trip

Well make sure you pass on to him that he has fans in Saskatchewan-everybody here is so helpful and nice. Ty got a huig from a rodeo Mom from Ohio the other day-she just wanted to hug a Canadian. I can't figure out why she pickked him-I was standing right there lol.

Shauna decided to have a beer with supper and got asked for I'D last night-I'm having a rough trip lol. My better half didn't think it was funny when I asked the waitress if the legal age was 50 lol. Had breakfast beside a family from Hawaii the other morning-the Dad used to ride for the Parker Ranch so we had a good visit. They run Charolais and Angus cattle there now.

That bull rider that they thought would be crippled for life from his injury last year gave the invocation tonight-he packed a flag in the first night-if that doesn't inspire you not much will. The PRCA did a rodeo 101 seminar today which was awesome. Quite a wreck in the bareback tonight they cracked the gate and two cowboys and a bronc come rolling out together-nobody hurt bad though. Ty finally got on a bronc tonight-drew a nice old campaigner that was easy to get in time with-he was 70 and is sitting 6th in the first go round with one perf left-he's 5 points out of first so things look good. Big day tomorrow-scholarship interview-two bareback horses and shoots trap!!!

Not such a great day today-Ty got by his bareback horse today but his wrsit is still to sore he can't really lift and spur like he needs to win-not going to ride to just get by. it was funny he pulled his hand out of the rigging cause it hurt so bad and rode him four jumps no hands. I had a pretty cool day today-I interviewed a bunch of scholarship applicants from Nebraska-I hate to say it but Soapweed isn't the only brilliant mind from there. You can safely throw the dumb useless cowboy/cowgirl stereotype out the window. There wasn't one of those eight kids I would be afraid to bank on in the future-their plans ranged from auto restoration to pharmacy to the college of law and a heart warming number that want to take over their families outfits. Great kids- Nebraska should be proud but I'm sure every state and province had more of the same.

I actually interviewed Monty today and he is a good kid. They had a deal tonight where people shaved their heads for 'Locks of Love' they use it to make wigs for people who have lost their hair from cancer etc. The NHSRA president Raley Radomoske and the queen fron New Mexico both volounteered-pretty classy young ladies. ty's got a bucker tomorrow morning-the video of the kid on it in the first go is pretty short lol. If he's 65 he'll tie Spencer Wright from Utah for the lead in the average-if he can get tapped off he can be mid high 70's on it I think.

Well Ty got his second bronc covered-kind of a wild horse fit-he reared up smacked his head and rolled out backwards-they didn't give him an RR option but he's sitting second in the average behind Spencer Wright -he should be short go bound. His partner and him finished fifth in trap shooting-not bad considering he only shoots trap in New Mexico lol. Our truck is at the Dodge garage here getting warranty work done-they could teach our local guy some lessons-were on foot but just hanging out at the hotel till it's fixed. Our buddy Orin Larson from Manitoba had a great bareback ride going but got bucked off at the buzzer he was sitting 4th in the All Around. Kelly Wardle told Ty he did the right thing medicallying out of Bareback so he's feeling better about his decision-I guess it's just going to take time with that wrsit.

Happy to hear he's gonna make the short go.
He's done well; you must've taught him good!!

(A friend of ours--and dad of a young bronc rider told his son, "if you can't ride 'em hang up and thrill the crowd.) :P

Keep us posted. When does the short go start?

I wish I had a way of uploading his first bronc he had a pretty good spur ride him the judges marked him six points over his horse. it's pretty scarey watching some kids here-I'd hope roughstock schools would have full enrollment. if you get a chance to go to a PRCA Rodeo 101 clinic don't miss it. I never taught Ty much of anything about the mechanics of rodeo I'm more of a mindset/management coach.

Ned we were planning on stopping by but couldn't quite make it work this trip. Mauri Ty is up in Strathmore on 7/30 in Saddle Bronc if you can make it. He's got to get some cows gathered, bulls out and calves branded before we hit Williams Lake. Megan is running things while I'm gone-her and Justin are doing a good job from the sounds of things.
